Air Buster Kaneko Mail-Away Glove

So I've wanted one of these for awhile, I've seen them sell a handful of times over the last few years.  Last time it was talked about on NA was about 2 years ago:

I've seen them sold with Air Buster a few times, but it was clearly a mail away item from Kaneko.  It was originally supposed to be a pack-in but didn't make it for whatever reason, probably delays in manfacturing schedule or unable to produce the required quantity.  I had never seen one with the original mailer though, until now!

I thought it was pretty neat at least.  Also interseting is that it mentions "Berlin Wall" as their next release, but it was mostly only arcade with a very limited foreign release on Game Gear.  This glove is supposed to be a one size fits all, but clearly was designed for kid hands.  I have average sized hands (can't quite palm a basketball but close) and boy was it stretching.  The glove is a spandex material and quite flexible, but definitely intended for smaller hands.

Only a few of these gloves around, and just wanted to share some history with it.  More of a Sega item but I know people here still appreciate the rarity of mail away items!

  • MR JONEBONE.... Tear that wall DOWN!

Great item!! Thanks for sharing J!
  • Excellent! Saw this on IG. Mail away items are super neat and this is a great piece for a Genesis collection!
  • Ha, they use the phrase fast and furious in their marketing before it became synonymous with the film franchise. Adds a little bit of historical relevance to their genesis wank glove, lol!
  • Jone's arm hair puts mine to shame.

Great item buddy, truly a rare find.
  • Nice item, I love seeing obscure stuff like this! Also nice to see someone who has arm hair of a similar level to me, haha.
  • Pretty cool to see this with the paperwork. There was one seller that sold the glove as one auction and then sold Airbuster with the glove mail-in card, and both went for totally bonkers prices. I think the glove cleared $400 as did the CIB game with mail-in card. The former I can kind of see, I guess, but a readily available game with a mail-in card never should have gone that wild. Just buyers caught up in the unexpected, I guess.

    Nice find, Jone
