Interesting, especially how they mention building without rebar... where will they get tension strength from? Sure you can use more concrete but its not cheap. Also more product means more weight which means more product and can be an endless loop. The pairing of rebar and concrete is almost perfect since they both expand and contract to the temperature at similar rates but rebar offers tension strength and concrete covers compression.
Also in the article they just say "could it lead to greener building materials?" yet the materials are limited ($$) and the process of creating a cement would be similar to the process we use now. I would have liked for them to touch more on how it would be greener.
Regardless, the volcanic rock reacting to the salt water in a way that helps the concrete maintain strength is fascinating.
