With SNES classic coming out, what will happen to the price of SNES carts?

For the most I think they will stagnate especially games that are included in the system. I think the harder to find ones will just continue to increase like Hagane and Aero Fighters.

  • It will only increase interest with fans so will get more demand which will in turn lead to higher prices.

But Nintendo are releasing snes games on Switch correct ?

So that might play into this also
  • Anyine keep an eye on NES prices with the release of tje NES classic?
  • If Nintendo does what they did last time with the nes classic and only sell a few of them then discontinue them within a few months of selling out I would say it won't effect anything at all for prices. We'll just see more disgruntled gamers and parents who couldn't get one.
  • I don't see it having much of an impact.
  • It won't affect anything. They're not the same market, and people will have a hard time getting one anyway
  • Not a damn thing.

I remember when the NES classic hit The interest was high in NES collecting scene and prices peaked higher. Mario and Duck hunt were selling for $15-20 Consoles going for almost $100... But like all trends find a resting point once concluded. I Imagine SNES will do the same.

IE: (Oh, I forgot Earthbound exists) Earthbound gets nuts for a month and then gets stable a month or two later.

Same with Pokemom GO, Games go for double their current values 2-3 months later get stable.
  • Nothing will happen.
  • Around the time the NES Classic came out, we did see a temporary spike in the cart prices for some of the games on the Classic. Galaga comes to mind for example. Though I think this spike was a reaction to the scarcity and resale price of the Classic; a lot of people opted to try and buy a real NES plus the 30 games as a gift rather than try and hunt down a Classic.
  • They will definitely drop down to the rock bottom prices of ~15 years ago.
  • I think it will do nothing. Heres why, the people who buy earthbound for example, they are collectors, not people who just want to play it. It is on the wii virtual console (and wii u) so they will just get it on that. Lets be fair, the common folk are the people nintendo is marketing this to are not going to drop well above 150. As for mario world and such, they arent that expensive to begin with so nothing is going to change.
  • Nothing, the games on the classic are flag ship titles, not the rarest or most valuable.
  • I highly doubt it will affect prices at all
  • I predict SMW will be a $500 game two weeks after the impending shit storm that is the release of the SNES classic.

    You heard it here first!

cool, I have a few copies I can sell
  • The only price that will skyrocket is the price of the SNES mini itself if it gets scalped like the NES classic.

Uh oh... don't flood the market!

Let's all just keep those SMW's coming at a slow and steady pace.
  • The included games are already pretty stagnant
  • I think it will cause stagnation on the common desirables. People who might have bought an NES and a few games to re-live their childhood probably just paid the scalper's price to own an NES mini, got their fix, and then let it collect dust in the corner like oh-so-many Wii consoles. Previously, they would have bought an NES and a few games on eBay, and then let it collect dust. I think if you look at most NES common desirables, prices are either stagnate or down. Only the top of the top of NES is seeing real growth, expect the same for the SNES.
  • Too bad it won't do a damn thing but slightly inflate the prices a bit for the included games. I'm just glad cycle perfect emulation is possible thanks to byuu because I just got out of the SNES (and just about everything else) cart collecting business and couldn't be more happier.

I am very interested in the SNES Mini but understand I'll likely never get one because of the damn F'ing greedy bastards that buy more than one.
