Quick question about Game Boy Inserts

I have a (hopefully) very simple question to ask. When it comes to original Game Boy games, I know that Nintendo's first party software had Nintendo Power inserts, but I can't seem to verify if third party sotware had them too. I'm collecting boxed Game Boy games from Nintendo and Konami/Ultra Games, and I'm wondring if I should be gathering Nintendo Power inserts for my Konami games. I actually have a number of inserts from 1990 GB games kicking around, and I have three Konami/Ultra Games products from 1990. Do I put two and two together, or do I not have to?

  • I collect for mainly Pal games so can't speak on behalf of the US/Canadian variants. However I think the general pattern should be similar. Most of the Konami GB games I own, have their own separate Konami pamphlets, and goes for other companies too eg. Midway. I definitely don't think all GB games come with Nintendo Power inserts. Having said this, most/all should come with some sort of consumer info pamphlet.

If you're mad keen on fully complete CIBS then best to browse online for brand new but opened games, which should show details of all gut contents.
  • I believe most if not all games had a Nintendo Power insert in them, at least as far as the NES/SNES stuff goes. Not so sure about the Game Boy but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same for the GB.
  • All first party Nintendo games usually had a fold out advertisement/poster showing only Nintendo published games. All GB games came with a Nintendo Power insert and later on Precaution booklets. Keep in mind however that the inserts changed each year.
