Suggestions for new Gameroom paint scheme?
Hey gang!
So my wife and I have very recently purchased a new house (in fact, tomorrow is the first day os the 30 day escrow).
This new place allows me to have a dedicated game room in the house rather than it being in a converted garage.
Much to my extreme excitement, my wife actually SUGGESTED (she fucking rocks) that I take the master bedroom... which is HUGE.
Having said that, this thing is going to need a paint job. SO I wanted to open it up to suggestions here! Thoughts?
Edit: Puppywaffles mentioned the exterior door. Wanted to add to the OP that that door is getting sealed up.

As far as colors go I suggest black. Nintendo red really pops on a black wall (WON cabinet, your banner, signs). Plus when the lights are off the light from the TV doesn't bounce of black paint and make that weird reflection.
Man I'd be worried about my collection being in front of those giant glass doors (theft, freak storms, outside stuff coming in) but that's just me.
That door is going away.

Thank you lol
Another color selection I have seen that was REALLY cool was my friend took his SNES to home depot and had them color match the paint to it. He then did the trim in that ugly ass purple from the buttons. Turned out nice though if you love SNES the most.
OOooOOoOOOOOoOooooooo. Writing that one down.

I hope it was a nice and fresh SNES otherside he'd end up with yellow walls.
I did my room in a medium grey with white ceilings and glossed white skirtings and it was pretty chilled
keep it simple, grey walls, white trim. Artwork to fill the gaps. plus I don't think you're married bc no wife would give up a master bedroom, unless the other rooms were sizeable lol kidding.
I agree. Paint it a "normal" color. While a funky color is cool at first, I was always a fan of more toned down game rooms
I like the carolina blue personally but if you do want a nice color go with a nice light to medium heather gray, white is boring and you can use any accent color you want with the gray
I think you mean "Honolulu Blue" ... which would make you a Detroit lions fan
OP, I'm about to embark on this odyssey too. I think out of the gate I'm just going to put up some primer on the walls and see how much wall space (after shelves, cabinets, entertainment center, bookcases and posters/paintings) there actually still is.
Man, I wouldn't give up our master bedroom for anything. Not even video games, and I'm clearly an obsessive
Clearly haha
im with ya though.

That's a really good idea
Two-tone grey. Bring your NES to Home Depot and colour-match those two tones. A stripe of painter's tape 40% the way up the wall with the darker tone on the bottom would really look slick. A red accent here and there in the room (like light switch and wall outlet covers), and you've got an NES-motif collection room
I may do this. We just bought a house beginning of July and I am converting part of our finished attic to a game room.
Manattic!
I have no suggestions but will be watching this thread for inspiration!

Yes, I was going to add black shelving as well...even spaced apart just a bit to allow some grey "stripes" between them

You could put up dark coloured blinds. The you could still get fresh air from time to time, and would be a lot cheaper then a wall.
HOT PINK - the color of the 80s
Ditto on hot pink. Make it look like the set of video power

Yep the stucco alone on the ext of the house to fill in and match will be pricey

Fortunately we have a contractor in the family and the deal has already been struck and budgeted for.
You're welcome.
I think you should put a few mirrors up when you seal that door and have a corner of mirrors which would be super cool! Then replace the carpet with bowling alley carpet and paint all the walls black with stripes and designs like the background of your avatar. Talk about an 80s/90s style arcade!
Oh and BLACKLIGHTS (which I'm planning on putting in my WON cabinet when those bulb burn out).
As for color, I went with white...an off white mind you. Cream color. I have a small room though. I wanted it to be a neutral color to have my collection/toys/posters to take up the focus of the room. And light colors make small spaces seem bigger. Also when I finally buy my black light carpet (the ones put in arcades), it'll really make the carpet pop. Oh and super easy to match furniture to!
But if you wanted to go for a color...I've seen dark grey go nicely. maximus_clean on here has a dark grey room with Nintendo red borders and black shelving. You can see it here: http://vintage.nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?StartRow=351&catid=5&threadid=323 most of the way down the page.
I'm all for creativity though...maybe do something new that hasn't been done yet (I'm not exactly doing anything new with my black light carpet idea, but my 80s and 90s themed room seems to be semi original? I don't see anyone strictly going for that.). Like others have said, go off of console colors...maybe a funtastic N64...or a silver Gamecube...something new.

I've saved a lot of photos of peoples rooms to help me get inspired. Maybe you'll find something there.
Oh and DON'T GO PINK. Trust me...my dad painted the whole inside of the house a nasty pink color and I had to live with that crap for fifteen years...you get real sick of it real fast...
