Service number on the inside of the toaster lid

Has this always been a thing?  Mine doesn't have it, and I think we got our NES back in 1988.

  • No, I see these in later toaster models. Basically, come the 90s they started putting the stickers in. That's the only time I've seen them. If I remember correctly, one of the stickers on the bottom is different also.
  • Yes. My friends got their front-loader NES pretty late, like 1993/1994, and it had this. Stuck out like a sore thumb to me because I never saw an NES like that during the NES era. Yes, the top-loader was available. I've seen a few since.
  • I noticed the number on the bottom of older units was different from the 1-800-255-3700 number they've put on everything since.

    there are two types. the grey (pictured in the op) and a white w/red lettering. i have one of each.

  • I always thought the sticker represented the unit being sent in to nintendo for repair.
