Whats with all this surge in "Can you tell me if my game is real" topics?
Can we please have a sticky in one of the threads that tells people how to verify their games if they're chip based? Genesis is pretty tough if they're using flash chips, but its easy to tell what an eprom looks like.

the sticky falls of the big thread once in a while and a mod has to put it back. but nobody bothers to search/investigate before they post anyway.
With that said I could see having them moved to help wanted to avoid clutter in other areas. They are asking for help verifying a game after all.
For Nintendo licensed games (NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, N64) the chip code has to match the label code. Genesis, not sure, since they dont have their codes marked on the chips. But this isn't a Sega board right?
For a label fake, that could be much tougher (if the game is legit) altho it would have to be a pretty good fake label, and AFAIK all the GOOD fake labels that arent made one off have 'reproduction' stamped on them somewhere.
For prototypes, it most likely if the board is an EPROM board, like UNEPROM, or TKLEPROM or whatever the boards are for that. For games that use licensed NES boards, thats much harder and actually needs a thread.
Unlicensed games, well... i dunno. It'll be pretty tough because most of those boards are purposed just for the game. But when it doubt, bootgod it.
Knowledge is power, and knowing is half the battle.

Im going to change the title to make it more clear.
If they get to be overbearing we'll figure something out, but I'd rather have people asking than not asking and getting ripped off.
So please be helpful (like posting about how the code should normally match the chip, even though I know of some SNES games that don't), or at least nice, or if you can't be either just ignore them. This too shall pass.

A fool and his money are soon parted, ya know. But I still think education is key in all aspects.
But I quoted this because I myself didnt know this (my expertise is just NES and GB). This would be great info to have, in that same thread. Are they glob top games?

i used bootgod before i made my thread for that pb2 and i was pretty sure it was legit but i made the thread anyway. why? to be %100 sure. also doubled as a "mail day arrival"

Some, but I've had some others that are legit (as in nobody would fake something so cheap; pretty sure it was an EA Sports title) that had a chip without the code.
And a sticky wouldn't necessarily be a bad idea; then we'd at least have all the info in one thread instead of splattered about.
But where? Collector's Corner or Auction Spotlight?
Someone like this:
People can't do their homework because they don't know where to begin. They just need the right motivation is all. We need a teacher.

Education is very important.

Ack when GBA was still current, I think the Chinese counterfeiters probably had no hesitation to pirate GBA games that would end up being common / worthless. Common games are common because they sold well, and that’s what they wanted to pirate.
