whoever mentioned VIDEODROME just made me wanna watch that one again. pretty kick ass
also I think someone also mentioned EVENT HORIZON...that movie doesn't get enough credit! I always thought that flick was awesome, I used to watch it all the time when I was younger
I always thought Videodrome was kind of boring, but Event Horizon was great. Jack Noseworthy ftw. Pretty much every movie he's in is awesome.

Such a shame that 35 minutes of Event Horizon footage is lost...
I don't like the final bit of Event Horizon. It's creepy and has nice atmosphere... but then when you see the demon guy... it just gets kind of lame.
That actually reminds me of another horror film I forgot to mention: Deathwatch (2002). It is a solid, suspenseful film for 99% of it's running time. Then, near the end, there's an entirely disposable, moronic, 30-second sequence that threatens to ruin the whole thing. But if you just pretend that that sequence either a) didn't happen or b) was just a terror-induced hallucination for the characters, the film is great.

Another great movie that is ruined by the ending is Sunshine... Its first hour and twenty minutes are amazing and then it devolves from a brilliant hard Sci-fi film to generic monster on a spaceship movie. It bumps it down from a 4 star film to a 2 star film with those last 20 minutes... Its just such a betrayal to the quality of the filmmaking that it makes me angry just thinking about it.
I actually mentioned that in the post he quoted, but he just spoke about Event Horizon specifically. Sunshine would be one of my favorite movies of all time if it weren't for that ending. Every time I watch it I consider turning the movie off early so I don't spoil it. Unfortunately, the very end of the movie is a nice touch. With the approach towards the sun where time stands still and then you see that the sun was reignited.

Return of the living dead
I should have put that on my list along with The Thing. There are so many great movies from the 80s that it's hard not to mention half of them.

Not many older flicks. Just being honest with myself about what I enjoy the most.
I'll have to look up the showtimes, maybe its on tonight.
Haha, is that the guy from The Crying Game?
Can't talk about it. One of the cast members tweeted something inappropriate and now there's a lockdown on press releases.

I'm particularly fond of the Friday the 13th series, personally.
This.
Especially 1 and 3.
