Yeah, sorry. I worded my post kinda awkward. Don't post before bed, kids!

I know that bags and boards are the most common, but my problem is it's tough to get the books in and out, and they don't offer a ton of protection, not to mention it takes coordination to keep the tape away from the front cover.

I tried some toploaders and I like them, but I noticed they can chip away at the covers of older comics when inserting them in.

Ultra Pro makes one-touches for modern books. Those would be ideal, except I can't find any for silver-age books (which is what my "collection" will mostly be), and the cost of one case is worth far more than any of my modern comics.

I suppose I'm just looking for an alternative that would allow me to access my books easier while giving better protection, but if bags and boards is it, then I'll pick up a bunch when I go to the shop.

So if its tough to get the boards in and out, just use larger size (silver age or whatever) bags and boards.   They make them in different sizes (different manufacturers) or you could even use golden age bags and boards if you want to make it foolproof to get them in and out (though that leaves way too much room to slide around for my personal taste).

As for the tape, save yourself some grief and remove the tape every time you open up the bag.

I remove it and stick it to the side or bottom of the bag and only then pull out the comic.    Otherwise, you will sooner or later pull ink off the cover with the tape, its inevitable.   I did it your way for at least ten years and then when someone showed me that trick I've never done it any other way since.    Makes it foolproof.

Ahh, that makes a lot more sense. I have a comic that lost a little ink, not bad, but still frustrating as it wasn't the cheapest comic I have.

Bags and boards it is then!
