Haha no just an airport in my backyard. Probably explains all the health issues.

The crazy part is that they still have weeks to go. I can't even imagine what they are gonna look like and how many Oz off each plant i will get.

It is all in the lights i use. These COB's are the real deal......Gives HPS a run for its money.

  • Yeah HPS lights are garbage, and expensive as hell to run. You're gonna get one hell of a haul, wish I could try some when they're done
  • This is the stuff of dreams.
  • Interesting light choice but yields tend to be better with high pressure sodium and metal halide. Distilled water is the best. Don't over nutrient your plants. Watch your NPKs (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium - use an NPK meter). Don't forget to flush the plants in the final week or two. Don't do one of the most common mistakes which is harvesting too early. Make sure they are properly dried, cured, and trimmed.

How do I know what I'm talking about? Let's just say I know a guy who knows a guy...

It's interesting to watch your log here. They look good so far. Good luck!

I appreciate the advice, but a few things to consider here.....

HPS is better for yields, but has WAY more cons than the minimal gains in yield it gets IMO. Electricty to run and heat being the main two which have to be taken into account. I would rather have 10-20% less yields, which is all HPS gets over COB, and not have my electric bill cost a fortune and my heat in the tent through the roof, especially on hot summer days. More and more growers are converting to COB's. And they only get better each year. Pro growers build their own though, i bought mine.

Also Reverse Osmosis water is considered the best not distilled. Because it is completely pure water and you can control exactly what is going in the plants. No trace minerals or other potential additives at all.

As for harvesting, i have a micropscope to check the trichomes to know when to harvest. You can easily tell just by how much amber there are in the trichomes. You can even control what type of effects you want out of the plant by harvesting at differnet times. Same with curing, some people cure for months, some even years. Overkill IMO.

Timeline says 3 weeks and 5-6 weeks for the different strains. seem to be on target, but the trichomes will let me know for sure.

    Thanks

No problem. Only trying to help!

I've never known anyone to use reverse osmosis water but if works for you then by all means, do it! You can still control what is going on in the plants with distilled water. Monitoring NPKs, using a pH meter, and having a good microscope (as you mentioned) all help too. Have you heard about people curing with orange peel or lemon peel or blueberries, etc...to give the bud an extra aroma or flavor? I've heard about it but never tried it.

It sounds like you know your stuff so I'll just enjoy rooting you on for a positive end result! Good luck!

The sun works better than anything.  Go greenhouse.....

No worries man, i am sorry if my post came off dickish, it wasn't meant to be, i apologize. Just wanted to discuss the pros and cons of grow methods we mentioned.

I actually don't use RO water, way too expensive. But pro growers rave about it. Especially in hydro systems. And i understand the science behind it of why it is better. I used bottled water, and like you said, with proper care and maintenance it is just fine. The PH is the biggest concern really. Because no matter how much nutrients you give, if you have the wrong PH they won't absorb.

You probably know this, but for those reading who don't, you want a range of PH as well. Between 5.8-6.6. Certain nutrients only absorb their best at specific PH levels, so having a range gives a nice balance without locking out a specific nute.

Never tried the orange peels, but a big reason people put that stuff in there is to keep the humidity up during curing. The orange peels can be misted so they balance the humidity. You ideally want 62% the entire curing process. Higher you risk mold. Lower and you risk drying out the bud. Give or take a few % of course.

Boveda packets are the way to go though. Drop one in each jar, and it is guaranteed to keep the humidity at 62% +/- 3%. A lot of growers swear by them. You just need to pick the right packet. They are made for cigars, but now they actually make ones specificall for "herbal medicine" lol because the demand was so high.

Well that is kind of obvious isn't it   not all of us have greenhouses though sadly. So indoor growing is the next best thing.
  • Almost another week down. Week 5. 2-3 weeks left.

Calyxes are starting to harden and curl. Buds are thickening and sticky. This is sounding more sexual than i had intended.

We defoliated just a bit too much, so we may get a little less yield than usual. Should have left more fan leaves (solar panels) on them. BUT for my first time, i cannot complain at all. These buds are killer.

Haha thanks man, who doesn't enjoy the devils lettuce at least once in a while right?

Week 4 is officially done. The Northern lights and Aurora have about 3 weeks left until harvest and are the chunky plants. And the Black Jacks have a good 5 weeks left. They take longer to flower because of the strain, hence they are lagging behind the others. BUT when finished, their THC and CBD content will be through the roof. It is a top medical strain.

They are really starting to bulk up now. Compare with even just last week.

Looks incredible, my man! Things are moving in a positive direction up here in NH now that the new governor is in. Lots of people with cards now.

Also, I might take you up on that offer if you're in Boston soon!

That's why I load the cart, power on, then blaze so it's all set up and ready to go! Otherwise I'll be fumbling with carts until I just end up taking a nap, lmao.
  • Well, we got about a week to 2 tops on the middle two Indicas. Aurora and Northern lights. They are getting fat, dense, and frosty. I think i might give an extra week to really pack on the trichomes and amber them up. These will be relaxing semi-couch lock buds for my dad and his crohns. The black jacks i can't wait to be done. I love hybrids myself. But those are still 4-5 weeks away.......

  • Week 7 down. Just 5 more days until harvest and then curing. These things look beautiful. Next grow i bet they are even gonna be better with having a grow under my belt and learning some new tricks. Might try a few more products as well. Would love to go totally organic. My nutes are the only thing that isn't organic.

  • How much are you expecting them to yield (sorry if you already mentioned it).

I am hoping to get 12 Oz or so out of the 4 plants. I know at least 8 but i think that is severely underestimating. There are an insane amount of colas on these. Next time i am hoping for ALL of the colas to be the size of the biggest ones. That will be done with topping and Low stress training.
  • Well we harvested the two indicas yesterday, happy birthday to me. Not bad at all for a first grow. Next grow there will be topping and LST, so there will be many more colas, and they will be larger. Also going to use molasses which will help bulk them up a bit by feeding the mycro in the soil.

Still not sure of how many Oz's are here as they shrink a bit during drying. 3-5 days in the tent, and then 2 weeks in jars. I can weigh it after it drys in a few days though and will update.

The other two Black Jack sativas are being harvested next week. They are FROSTY.

I haven't smoked in nearly 3 months, this is not making it any easier lol But even so it is still fun to be part of the process and help my dad out

  • Sick, look at the crystals on those suckers.
  • In dc weed is legal, but there is no legal way to buy or sell it. So there is gourmet cookie business that will deliver you a box of their cookies for $60, and then give you a bag with a free "gift" inside.

Yup this is a popular trend. I have seen everything from cookies, cupcakes, to lemonade. There are other tricks around the laws as well. We are basically just waiting for the government to figure out how they can go about getting their cut of the money and how they can maximize it.

I just don't understand how alcohol is totally okay, way more dangerous than weed, and i can buy it at Target. Makes no sense.
