for sure. We try to keep our place around 70 and even then I have a fan on when I go to bed. This is Canada damnit, it's supposed to be cold, not hot

Wait, it getts hot in Canada?! Guess you learn something new everyday.
  • I'm 38 and never owned a vehicle with a good working AC. I've had my current truck since 2008 and you could always hear the AC blowing like hell but almost nothing would blow out of the vents. A year ago after doing some research I found that it was common in my 3rd gen Ram that the AC blend door would break off and cover the opening for the blower. So last summer I pulled the blower out and found that door blocking the opening and removed it. Now the AC blows air like a freight train out of the vents. But just before that, the fan for AC condenser in the engine bay quit working. A lot of cars have the radiator and condenser together and your radiator fan works for both. In mine the radiator and AC condenser sit next to each other and each have a fan. I think the relay for the condenser fan failed because that fan never turns on but it moves easily by hand so I think the fan is still good. Basically my AC only blows cool air if I'm moving 30mph or faster. I don't do much highway driving so it's usually blowing warm air. If I get an hour tomorrow I'm actually planning on trying to locate that relay and hopefully replace. If it works out that way then starting tomorrow I'll be a windows up, AC on kinda guy. Currently I just drive with windows down and pretend like it doesn't suck in 100 degree heat.

AC, however I do hate the fact that my glasses fog up afterward.

I still need to replace my blend door actuator in my car, which regulates the AC a bit. Right now I got it full blast which causes the windows to fog up.

clean your lenses with bar soap before you leave in the morning. Works wonders.

  • I always use the AC and never have the windows down. I don't like having the windows open so I don't have to breath all the automobile exhaust.
  • I never had a car with working AC until 2009, so by then, I had gone without to the point where I don't use it often. I'll use it occasionally, but only when Mrs. dra600n is with me as she complains about the heat, then complains about the wind messing up her hair

But, as per the poll, I use AC mostly. If I'm just driving across town for lunch or something at work I might roll the windows down. I commute, though, so windows up and AC on.

LOL geographical differences. I live in Louisiana, so 70F is actually kind of cold for me... at least if it's the temperature that occurs during the daytime. >_>

  • AC all the way. Mine gets going really fast and that makes me happy. Don't like the heat.
  • AC for me. The windows make everything too loud and it messes up my hair.

    I'm from Mississippi. I know.

    Get sunburn?
  • Yesterday I was finally going to spend time finding the relay for my AC condenser fan so that I could have cold air all the time in my truck. But first I was going to mow the yard. I needed to get a gallon of gas for my oil mix gas can for my blower. I hopped in my truck to go to the gas station, turned the key and...nothing. The starter solenoid clicked but the motor wouldn't turn. So after mowing my yard and using my blower that runs off the batteries for my drill (it's not very powerfull and those little batteries run down fast so the gas blower is at least twice as good) I wasted all my time trying to get a ride to AutoZone to get a new battery. So this will be yet another week of cold air while driving fast, and hot air blowing from the AC when moving slow or at red lights. Maybe next weekend.
