  • They are still young enough, so they can definitely be taught that behavior like that isn't acceptable. A gift, even if not exactly what you want, is still a gift, and the thought is what counts.



    It definitely is a shitty feeling though, and even though they are a kid, it still hurts to get that response. Don't worry though dude, i am sure your sibling took your feelings into account and will use it as a learning experience for your niece. But i think we have all been there at least once where we got that response from someone.

    Hahah, totally. My son is 4 and if someone gets him something he already has, like a Lego set or something, he always says "I already have this." We are working with him on it, but he doesnt get it yet. He is just being honest. But at 7, that is a little different, they should know a little better by that point. But yes kids are dicks, that is for sure.



    When I was some single digit age or other, I got Electronic Talking Battleship for Christmas and said "I already have this" and gave it back to whatever Aunt or family friend gave it to me. I didn't get to return it and I didn't get another gift. I learned my lesson after that
