I caved on the CE, after my order completed the website threw me back to the Wonderboy listing and unsuprisingly it insta sold out.

After my order was done I checked to see if had sold out, and it did. It was like 3:03 at the time, heh.

don't have a dog in this race but my guess is so that customers can open one and keep one sealed for speculating.

I was gonna do that.  Then I was like "wait, fuck those SNES Classic scalpers" and didn't

Yes, that is common practice for them.

Various reasons why, but one was so people could buy a second copy for someone they know. My belief is that due to the high cost of international shipping of US$15 which is a compete rip off and has always been a major complaint, it helps reduce the hit.

Again! Twice today. I was there, logged in. Got the game in cart and wasn't able to pay. Limited Run my ass, these are Impossible To Get Games. They are explaining that Shopify what they are using doesn't put people in line. If you are fast enoug to get in in cart, you should be able to pay it. They need to change their online shop right away. People are getting pissed. Don't just blame the service. Get better one if it doesn't work right.
  • Huh...just took a look at their upcoming games Lili looks cute...anyone plan on grabbing that?

After this morning I'm really dreading Night Trap next week. Given how fast Wonder Boy sold out...2 minutes!

Oh anyone else get a mini heart attack when the clock hits 0 but you still can't buy it, so you hammer the refresh button till it pops up? :/

If they change to a system where the game is reserved for you once it's in the cart, the games will actually "sell out" faster because at least 3,000 people will hit "add to cart" within a few seconds of the sale opening.  This situation will not help solve any issues.  People will still complain because the games are sell out too quickly.  At this point in time there is just waaaaaaaay more demand than supply, and no check out system can fix that.

  • My story with today's releases is a bit stressful since im not sure of anything yet...

So i went and put only wonder boy LE in my cart at 10:00:20-25 seconds since thats the one i really wanted so i got the sold out after waiting in ''line'' for 20-30 seconds. After that only the lawbreakers LE was still available so i went and ordered it. When that was done the combo bundles of regular and LE appeared on the site. So i ordered both bundles sucessfully but by doing that i cheated the 1 LE limit unpurposefully (is that a word) with lawbreakers. I did receive the 3 payment received emails and the 3 order confirmed emails. I opened a support ticket to ask them to cancel my lawbreakers LE order and explained i never intended to cheat the system. Hopefully they will cancel my order and ship my 2 others but no reply yet (i hope they will see i bought every single ps4 game since day one except morning rpg and be cool about it). So thats its pretty much my longest post ever i think and on my phone
  • I pre-signed into both the store and paypal 10 minutes prior to the sale and proceeded to refresh until it was available. I bought the standard edition of Wonderboy because (1) I don't need LEs and (2) I figured I stood a better chance at getting the game period.

Since Oceanhorn sold out almost immediately I figured this release would be just as bad if not worse. Luckily I snagged both games (Wonderboy today and Oceanhorn - whenever that was) and can relax until Ys goes up for sale.
  • I almost forgot about Ys. I knew Wonder Boy would sell super fast and I expect Night Trap and Ys to sell crazy fast as well.

I'm thinking of getting Lili. I agree, it does look cute.

The only thing that got me a mini heart attact was me stumbling around trying to remember my phone number during checkout just to fulfill my stupid order. Still got Wonder Boy, but man, it was a close one (Was like 17% left in stock shortly after I bought it!)

I won't debate their "limited copies" business model as that has been rehashed so many times apparently.     But I will say I think the problem is with a bunch of what I've been reading about them in recent weeks is that if you add something your cart and click to begin paying for it with either your credit card or paypal that should LOCK YOU IN to that product.  Period.  If you add it to your cart then proceed to check out and all of the copies sell right out from underneath you then that is not good for fresh repeat business and makes me question their business practices.  Granted, I'd set a timer of maybe 5-10 minutes to allow time for the customer to finalize payment but you should be GUARANTEED that item you add to your cart if you are in the process of paying for it.  If you exceed the timer then put that product back in available stock and becomes available to the public--that is what's fair to the consumer and generates positive news.  I literally saw more negativity about this company than positive when poking around the internet and as a market research project manager to me it is shocking.  It almost looks like the same 3-5k people buy their games around the world and only a handful of new fresh customers are buying these items.  LOL  So from their perspective they don't give a flying f*ck if some people lose out using this payment system since they are still selling them out to the same group of people over and over.

When I bought my Oceanhorn it was taking too long for paypal to work less than 30 seconds after adding it to my cart so I just used my credit card (in another tab) which I never do (because it is unsafe) and that to me is a travesty that I could of possibly lost it while trying to finalize payment.  If I had continued with paypal I would of been out of luck as the PS4 version sold out in ~3 minutes or less and the available stock went from 98% to 4% once I was done with my payment less than a minute later.  Literally 30 more seconds and I would of lost out.  Thank god I got one but I am questioning whether I'll give them my business again.  I only did it beause I really like Oceanhorn but I wouldn't of been too sad if I lost out as I already have it for my XBOX One.

    Just my $0.02.
  • I want too much stuff this week. I wouldn't mind both a PC and PS4 version of Night Trap, plus The Bunker. Even the single is cool. I'll probably forgo everything but PS4 Night Trap just so I have a shot at checking out though, every second is going to matter I'm guessing.

Disagree.......... you can't be locked into anything in life until you complete the transaction or pay. If your credit card is declined or fails you have false inventory levels which pisses people off more. Let's say 10 people lock up the last 10 avaiable items......... and thier are 20 people in line and it says "SOLD OUT" and all of a sudden the number jumps back up and the next group of late people get it because of the timing........... worse.

Should they do a better job determining inventory levels.......... sure as thats the main issue not the payment processor.
  • If the game is "locked in" once you put it in your cart, the games will actually sell out quicker. This will not solve anything. I'm not sure why people keep suggesting this. The only way this issue will go away is if they increase the number of available copies, which they have made it clear will not happen.

They used to have it where when you clicked to pay it would add you to a query and hold the item for you until you completely checked out.  Guess what happened?  (Look back on their facebook around the time Oddworld Stranger's Wrath was released)  Everyone who didn't get added to the query in time bitched and complained about it.  "How did these sell out in 30 seconds, this is crap!"  "WTF?!  Why does it say stock is at 80% and I can't add the item to my cart because it says not in stock?!  This is bullshit, I'm never going to buy from you again, this company has no idea what it's doing!"

The voices of people who don't get what they want are far going to outweigh the people who have no problem with the company in this day an age with this demographic.  That is what the big companies like Amazon have done to consumerism.  People feel entitled and think that if they complain about something, they should get something for free or something special should be done for them.  If that doesn't happen, then they stand up on their little soap boxes where they are the center of their own little world (facebook, twitter, etc.) and cry about how they were wronged.
  • Oh crap...just looked at the email...

CE of Night Trap for PS4 AND PC?! And then there's a Blu Ray!? Damn...I've never had this happen...where I want more then one thing from them...I don't dare risk everything to be greedy. I think I'll just have to...go for the PS4 CE. It has more stuff in it then the PC version and looks nicer. Blu Ray I can skip as well...must tell myself that. I expect this stuff to go super fast so I doubt I could check out and then be able to grab something else before they sell out.

Is anyone going to risk going for more then one item?
  • There is always a risk that the more you add to your cart, the longer it takes to process and in turn could sell out before you finish your transaction.

    My God yes. QFT.

If it was stressful and heartpounding to try and remember my phone number just to complete my order, it's probably just as hard for me as every one else, so just knowing the slower way that EVERYONE has to go through seems pretty fair. If it's a locked in thing, then it would sell out even faster and games could be in limbo with nobody paying for them.

  • Got the PS4 CE of Night Trap.
  • Okay, are people somehow getting the Collector's Edition of Night Trap before it's time? The Hell happened? I had 3 minutes to spare, and went to go log in, the page and the product now doesn't exist.
  • Well that was a record.
  • That was the longest I had to wait in the queue line. That was scary. It was because they took down the CE right before 10 am.
  • Lucky to get both the CE version and the red vinyl, very happy! No if only I got the last game i ordered from them lol
  • Yeah, but BEFORE the time to buy it? I cry foul play here. It's nowhere to be found on the site. I had 3 minutes to spare. All I did was log in.
