Did not think Lili would go that fast...I got the SE...of course because I love them.
I was double thinking it since I'm going to be short this month but...screw it...I wanted it. I just hope they're not releasing any more this month...I can't afford it.

Hell...great now I have to beg/borrow money from someone...damn you LRG...why must you release so many good games at once?!

No need to be for the standard editions. There probably is going to be a 10min to 1 hour ordering window and this is going to be their largest run. CE is going to be tougher

Damn, this is nuts! NOT my listing, in case anyone was wondering. BUT, this makes me wonder - are people actually going to open and play their copies of Night Trap, or has collecting gotten to the point where people are "Nah, I can't open this game I just purchased because it's too valuable"???

Sad but true. Honestly when everyone is buying their copies to keep sealed I feel like the value of a sealed copy isn't even going to be that much more than an opened one.

Night Trap LE comes with a digital email code. Don't even need to open it to play it! Not that you'd want to play it anyway.
IIRC from the forums they put a very small number of the variant cover in the LE boxes, so I don't see why you wouldn't open it. So many people are keeping them sealed, it's not like sealed LRG games will ever be hard to find or more valuable.
Night Trap was the absolute first time I got my order canceled as I was trying to purchase the CE. There were some botches on the website in which the main games screen removed the listing for the CE and it didn't come back on right away but anyone who had the link to the specific url for the CE was able to get it right away. I ended up grabbing the base edition. Wonderboy CE was also hella hard to get.

I didn't use the direct link and still got it on the first run. Wonderboy had a play asia release that was super easy to find even days later for the same price as LRG and you'd get it delivered sooner.
Most games I get are the regular edition, and are the ones I open and play. The only reason why I'd get any CE is that if it's the only way to play it or I have a way to play it and I just wanted a cool collector's item.
I need to remember to take some pics of the Wonderboy one I got in the other day... Pretty nice release, even though whoever delivered it to me was holding it with too much ninja-grip action (There's a solid crease in the middle of the spine)
And with 6000 collector's editions, there's more Ys CEs than most LRG standard print runs. I'll be gunning for an LE but won't die if I don't get one. Origin is the only 3D Ys I've already played and I like the 2D ones more.
If the Ys standard doesn't sell over 10k don't expect LRG to EVER to another Pre-Order.
All they did was turn everyone to the CE and have a fall back to say you can get standard edition.
Eventually this will become their model like everyone else. They will produce large run standard editions and keep the CE limited.
I can't rightly see this becomming their standard model, especially with the lesser known/popular titles. I can see them doing this with the bigger franchise releases they do though....but if they do this with every release I can see their sales going noticibly down. Some people buy these to collect the whole LRG set, fewer people want these to try to go for a complete licensed set....some buy them because they like the game and want to play them, but most of their customer base is of people who buy these to either resell immediately or have high hopes in the price of them going up so they can make a nice profit down the line. If those people feel the profitability is gone, they lose their main customer base.

Problem is in a recent interview they said they don't take as many small titles anymore and wish another company would pick them up.

Hah, that's interesting! If that's the case, then it sounds like they're shifting their original focus away from preserving as many digital games as possible.

Well crap...I want both Ys Origin CE and Asdivine Hearts.
Wonder if I'll be fast enough to get both. Anyone who's gotten more then one game from LRG got any tips for me? I've never had to do two games at once...I'm not going to risk bundling to save on shipping in case the CE sells out...I'm not stupid.

Yeah a lot of these games I just want physically. This will mess with the collector's market and I see it as the first possible issue with the company's longevity. Once the games aren't super limited, they lose their luster, which is what drives collector's to their product and business. The limited stuff I don't care too much about anymore myself. This will be one to watch.
As long as the games arent reprinted it wont destroy anything. Itll temper down ebay right after purchase flippers. Hell if they did this from the beginning id probably still be buying. Ill get games i want now with that model. Too bad i couldnt get wonder boy or night trap. Would have preordered both of those
for the lesser games and to the post above about LRG losing customer base on smaller releases. How about they stop releasing the cash grab garbage and focus on good games people want.

In the past month alone we've had the physical releases of the Wonder Boy, Night Trap, Ys Origin, all with LEs and pretty much universally wanted. As much as I'll make fun of LRG when they release a game that's 40x the digital download price or yet another lukewarmly reviewed retro-styled indie game, I won't mind if they space out their big releases a bit. If they keep the pace of desirable releases that they've been on recently, I'll be super happy.

It's funny but when they first launched, they had made forum accounts all over the place announcing their buisness model and asking for advice. I tried to talk them into preorders then but they were adament against doing it. Glad they finally came around though. It must have hurt to watch eager money walk away empty handed.

The music is easily one, some might argue the best thing, about the Ys series.
