I ordered a generic adapter off of Amazon, but the barrel didn't fit. If anyone has a spare they could sell or info on a generic adapter that fits, that would be awesome!

I too need to find out the barrel size, I seem to remember that somewhere in this thread, there was someone who found a good replacement on amazon. I need to find out the barrel size so that I can restrict myself down to one 5A 12V line to free up another plug for something else. I'll take a quick look and post a link here if I find it. han2 found a replacement according to the link below. He said it fit fine but I'm not sure.

  • Hey thanks!  I can confirm that the barrel size is 5.5mm / 2.5mm.  That is the size of the barrel on my laptop power adapter, and I pluged it into the sign last night to confirm.  Worked like a charm.
  • Hi everyone. I know I'm a little late to the party but somewow I was diving last weekend and to my surprise a kiosk so I've been doing as much research as I can since my Wii controllers were intact I wanted to join and add my kiosk to the registry even though this thread seems to have died down. I was wondering if anyone had a video of there Wii motes working I can't find a video of anyone using the Wii controlls on a Wii U kiosk. My seem to have a power chord coming from the station and its plugged in and I'm unsure if you would need a kiosk console so if anyone can think of any ideas let me know. Thank you.
  • Hey dewisp02, can you update my entry to show that I got controllers. I just got a set from a friend through a trade. I will not have a chance to test these for working on a regular wii u however, I am currently housed on campus and I will not be going home for quite some time, so I will have no way to plug these in to play around with these. The poster on my entry can be labeled as "R". Also, the model number for mine is WUPM128P-WU.

Also, Aparently there was a straight up Mario Maker only poster. It's on the back of one that's an ebay right now. I attached a picture of it below.

    mario maker/pokken/splatoon

    battle/create/compete

    Mario maker only

It's weird how no one had this one pop up considering that mario maker was the most recent of the bunch.

Could you post a picture so that way it can be noted in the original post? Also, I'd personally like to see it because it sounds really cool.

  • I'm sorry if I missed it in the thread but does anyone have a suitable replacement actually adapter for the Wii U Kiosk sign like if you've found one on Ebay or Amazon and not the Lynx Innovations one.

The sign just needs 12v. Any 12v power supply with do. If its too bright you can use 9v. I like mine better at 9v as its in a dark room.

  • Think I got all the updates in the OP. If not, please let me know. Also added the pictures of the back advertising posters that were missing. I knew about the Mario Kart 8 one since there was a complete graphics kit, but was hoping to find a picture of the complete kit before posting information on here. I figured there was a Mario Maker only poster since there were also Mario Maker only graphics kits, but had not seen the back poster until posted here. Thanks for the contributions guys and gals. Let's keep growing this thread as we are able to get more pictures. I would love for someone with a complete set of kiosk demo discs, sleeves, kits to provide some pictures as well. I have been considering scanning the documentation/paperwork I have, but am hesitant due to counterfeiting practices. Maybe I can watermark and also black and white it to make it easily ID'ed as reprints.

WAY Back I uploaded my watermarked removal instructions here. It was the first post on the second page of the thread  .

While I would like to host those here in this thread, it is against NA rules. If you want to host elsewhere and have ppl interested in them pm you for a link to where ever you decide to host, that would work. Not sure if I can talk about other sites that do this sort of thing, so I will not discuss this any further here. Definitely glad people are backing up the kiosk discs and if you could provide a link to directions how people can backup their kiosk discs, I would be more than happy to discuss having that in this thread with a mod (if a discussion is needed).

NA is Anti-piracy? Sheeeeit. Welp that's fine. Hehe but I mean ja I can wip a tutorial on how to "backup" the discs.
  • Saved this guy from the trash fate last night, the original owner was about to bring it to the dump. It was filthy but pretty much complete it appears, other than one of the blue leds missing from the back left which I can live without unless I come across one. The fan on the unit sounds like a jet engine, is that normal for these.

My question to those that have a fully working unit, I`m getting an error message about games that were on a usb, like the Smash Bros demo. Is there something else that came with this kiosk that stores the games. I posted a pic of the error, and a second pic of the only disconnected item that seems to have a USB and could be some kind of hard drive. It`s a silver box.

How easy are these to add new demos, and are you able to plug in another console to the TV without opening the whole thing up, I`d love to add a modded Wii with an hdmi splitter. Also, in the picture of the kiosk running Ive included the back poster that came with it, just a generic black one, but the kiosk is against the wall so no big deal.

  • Error in the loader, best thing is to Decrypt the USB and re-encrypt it after u fix it
  • Yea, Ive figured out a few of the demos are stored on the silver box, which is locked by an ubuntu usb key. There is a usb cord plugged into the back of the unit that goes to the silver box. Its strange as every other demo unit Ive seen has all on board memory, mine seems to be a mix of on board and this box. The box also appears to be what was first used in the kiosk before demo units came to retail, but at the moment its locked. Its a 320gb storage HD on board, so there could be a bunch of other stuff but I cant unlock it. I made another post about trying to figure out the puzzle, but after making a boot usb stick, here is a new screen I get when the silver box loads before going to the ubuntu screen.
  • You could Just install the WiiU Menu changer on your CAT-i. SystemConfigTool should be able to read the USB since its the same NAND id assume
  • If that involves some kind of update, I dont think that would work. Unlike pretty much everyone else`s kiosks Ive seen in videos, my menu does not have an update option. According to my menu this is cat-ses rid (PC) whatever that seems to mean. Here is a pic of what I get when I use a blank sd card to get to the menu. I wonder if this demo unit is just an OG of demo units and it just didnt have the same memory that newer ones did so they used a pc for external storage. It just seems strange though because from what Ive seen these compact pcs werent cheap back in 2011 or so.

  • Not to change the subject at hand, but someone I guess figured out the whole "no audio" problem. It turns out that it was a set of 4 capacitors that are prone to being burnt out. I saw it in a public facebook group. I put the link below for reference.

  • Also, if anyone is looking for a Wii U kiosk console, I was able to get 3 of them- and am more than happy to trade the extra units. Also have some damaged/cord cut Wii U kiosk gamepads for trade too.
  • Started up my kiosk the other day. I forgot how loud those fans are! Haha. How can I make this quiet? Should I unplug the fans? It probably doesn't get too hot if the lid is off right?

Yeah, not only that but these things were designed to be always on, non-stop in a retail store. You'd likely be fine regardless as long as you turn if off after a while.

There is one example on the first post. I decased a Seiki brand 1080, but you have to relocate the pcbs and what not so not an easy solution.
