^wow, that's ridiculous that they potentially won't be sold in QC. The language laws can be strict, but this seems extreme for something like this. Is it really due to a few ROMs only being sold in French?
Things can change, but someone at Toys R Us told me they just plain wouldnt get any in the Quebec stores.
I had a chance to get the $169 bundle off of Thinkgeek but I wasn't going to...it just wasn't worth it to me. I'd have no use for the two items they throw in with the SNES classic.
I got mine through Best Buy early last night. I believe it was the first store that launched the preorders. I posted it on here that is was LIVE, and a few others that were online were able to nab one.
For all the crap Gamestop does and takes, I have to give them credit for only allowing 1 per household address. Over half the people in line where I was were trying to get more than 1. Compared to the stories of people getting 10+ online, at least it was stopped in person at Gamestop.
No kidding. Maybe the Tetris lamp......maybe. And there is no chance of saying, "I'll just sell the extra stuff later." There will be so many people trying to unload the extra crap they got stuck with, you will be lucky to get a dollar or two back.
I figured there might at least be something cool like a carrying case or something like one of those books that told you about the games included on the NES one.
I bet we will see carrying cases soon and if we get a cool black hard plastic with foam i will buy one. I should probably buy some extension cables too but the bundles are useless crap.
They're brutal haha. Just return the extra crap unless it's something u actually want.
Lol man I didn't even look. I hit the first one so quick on the mobile app. They put a disclaimer at the bottom that you can't return anything from the bundle. Guess they are getting hip
Did anyone get any notification emails? I signed up for notifications from every retailer that offered them but only got one from Best Buy once they were already sold out.
I was willing to buy one of the Tetris bundles, but they sold out while it was loading. GameStop site hasn't worked at all today, and the mobile app doesn't list anything at all. Everyone else sold out in minutes.
I'm sick of this crap from Nintendo. There's literally no excuse for it.
Edit: oh yeah, I was signed up for alerts from every site and didn't get any. I got a text alert from GameStop, but go figure they're the site that's completely broken.
Went into Gamestop to browse at 1:10 pm. Walked out at 1:20 to head to Costco and meet with my dad. As I was walking the Walmart in stock alert hit my email. I went to the product page that showed OOS. So I sat on a bench and refreshed the page a few times.
That's when I came to this forum and saw the post that said Gamestop was taking in store preorders. I thought what the hell it did seem busy in there...so I went back and there was one person in line and I overheard him and the employee talking about a preorder. So I knew I was looking good. Then the phone started blowing up.
He then announced having only 5 (the line had grown to about 8-10) and handed stickers to the first 5 in line. The system came back up and I was out of the store by 1:50.
It literally was a gigantic stroke of luck, of which I usually never have. Big thanks again to the poster who pointed out the preorders st game stop. If I hadn't seen it until after I left I'd have been absolutely sick.
I'm sorry to those of you who didn't get one. If I come across any on release day I'd be happy to sell at retail. In my area we have a large grocery chain called Meijer who usually are good with getting stuff like this. Especially in smaller cities around me that have a store I should have a chance to snag one at midnight on release day.
Went to game stop a little after one and they were sold out. The resellers were already there in full force. One guy offered me his pre order for $300 and another for $250.
I was lucky enough to grab an overpriced bundle from think geek later on in the afternoon.
It is just frustrating how quickly these things sell out and then all pop up on ebay. I feel like 95% of the people purchasing these things are doing so to flip for profit.

Anyway I was succesful in placing an order here : https://intl.target.com/p/nintend...
Literally a couple minutes after you posted this it was sold out, lol.
I suspect its not a packaging issue . Nintendo would be all over that - easy to fix.
The issue is that there are french language versions of Zelda LTTP and I guess one other game. as in, the IN GAME language is french.
I suspect the law says... if you make the game in french, you have to sell it in french here. If you make the game in english only, we'll allow it.
So the existence of a Quebec french in-game LTTP (and one other..) is what is fucking things up. I suspect.
I concurr with Guillavoie. Excellent point and right on the mark.
Now, as a french-canadian I can only remember LttP having a french version. WHAT'S THE OTHER GAME?! lol
Looks like I've missed out again!
Fun Fact below:
As an aside, today I learned that the word Nintendo, when loosely translated to English, means: "Caters to scalpers."

The other game was an NES Title: Burgertime. It had French fries in it.
Get the bundle and sell the stuff you don't want to make your money back. I don't know what was included, though.
The dude at my local gamestop said I could return the strategy guide for $20 instore as long as it was new.
did anyone on here manage to grab one?

I wonder if scalpers are buying from other scalpers to just keep pushing up the price or maybe they buy their own listings...
