Thank you Amazon for not sending me that notification I signed up for.
Wait. Amazon had them for sale as well? If so, I also signed up for the damn email alert LONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG ago and also didn't get it!!!!!!!
I never got an email from Best Buy or amazon. Got one from Walmart at 1:04 and they were sold out.. my wife happened to be at our local Walmart at the time which is across from a GameStop, so I called her up and had her check if Walmart was doing in store preorders... nope. But she went over to gamestop and got me one in store
It is just frustrating how quickly these things sell out and then all pop up on ebay. I feel like 95% of the people purchasing these things are doing so to flip for profit.
These scalpers wouldn't be able to do so if people just DON'T BUY THEM for those prices. There's a reason I still don't have an NES classic. I refuse to pay those prices, and I won't for a SNES classic either. Give it time, prices will go down as people get bored of their systems and want to get them out.
I wonder how much scalping would occur if they limited one to each credit card, email, and physical address.
As in once any of those are used in any combination, that was it.
I imagine these "bots" have to share one of those items. It would also be easy to see who the scalpers were, if 50 classics were charged to one credit card or shipped to one address.

It's possible to set up multiple PO boxes, one per email account. At least here in Canada with what Canada Post calls Flex Delivery. All you need is a unique email address I'm pretty sure and you can set up one per email.
And with email aliases, you really only need the one base email, and can have as many aliases as you want all going to the same inbox.
It would be a hassle but they could still use different credit cards and stuff then ship to different people. Friends, family, maybe a PO box. If you're selling each one for a few hundred it would be worth it to them to do a little extra.

Here you can only reserve one online, pretty sure you have to go in and pay to actually get it. Mine is like 200$ a year, and I had to fill out paperwork so I highly doubt scalpers are paying for multiple PO boxes just to scalp toys. Maybe they are though. Who knows.

Flex delivery is not a P.O. Box. You definitely need to pay to rent a P.O. Box.
It's basically the same thing. So much so in fact that retailers treat it as one.
Regardless of the technical aspects, it functions as I've described. You pick up your items at the post office of your choosing, and get a personal address to send online purchases to.
After a very frustrating day yesterday, I finally succeeded in pre-ordering from GameStop, but only as part of one of their crazy bundles. Ended up paying just over $200 including tax for the console, Playing with Super Power book, 2 wireless controllers, a jigsaw puzzle and a mega man collectible. Look out for an update to my FS thread on Sept 30th.
We don't even get the bundles here in Canada. I'd happily spring for some shit bundle if it'd guarantee me the SNES Classic. No option to do so, though.
The problem I have with the 'some scalper ordered 50 of them' idea is this: even if they had 50 different accounts, cards, whatever's.... there's no way you could place 50 different orders in the matter of seconds. I don't care how good your computer is

Well shit... I've seen some of the local douches that scalp systems... why can't I ever find a damn bot to get even one preorder?
Amen...if companies like Nintendo are going to shit on us...I think we need to fight fire with fire. I don't know how to get a bot or how to do that sort of thing but I want one and I want to learn. Tired of getting the shaft.

I'll take the console. You can keep all that other crap
Yeah, I'm just gonna assume I won't be able to get one. If someone is feeling charitable and wants to resell or trade one at somewhere in the neighborhood of cost, you know where the world's biggest SNES fan™ lives. Or at least where my PM button is.

I have a feeling that a lot of useless junk will pop up on eBay on that day. You should be prepared for some competition.
what happens if you just return the other stuff? Say you didnt want it and to get your money back. Dont they have 24 hour return policy on stuff?
Some have said that there was a disclaimer that you cannot return individual stuff. Others have said a GS employee said that they could. I can't say for sure. I was fortunate enough to get a regular pre-order by itself.

I never got a notification for that Player 2 Corrin Amiibo exclusive they did either.
2017 really is the year of bullshit shortages.

I heard thinkgeek is doing this bundle, should be still there .
I might go for it,
but only if the beef is 80/20...

Here in Canada Flex Delivery is free.
Then finally Canada has a win. Lol.
