  • That's so weird lol.
  • I just want the Wii to never die at this point.
  • This is interesting. Anyone know of a precedent on a past Console before Wii?

If you mean precedent for an older console getting releases after a new one's market life was over, Atari 2600 outlasted the 5200 and 7800.

According to Sega Retro, a Master System game called Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum was released in September 1997 in Brazil. I don't think that beats Mega Drive, but it seems crazy that an 8-bit game got released in 1997.

    I meant Nintendo only.

    The DS outlasted the DSi!

  • This shouldn't surprise anyone. Multiple people including myself predicted that Wii games would continue to be released longer than Wii U games.

Yes. PES 2014 on PS2. That series kicks major butt worldwide, so it's no surprise that they'd cater to the biggest selling console of all time.

  • Wii collectors must be super excited.

That's an assumption.  Shouldn't we just ask the 3 of them and see how they really feel?
  • The game series that just won't die.  And if you need any more evidence that the Wii U was a massive flop, this is it.
  • Let's sing is the series by maximum that was the debacle known as let's sing 2016. Just dance 2018 is also getting a wii release, and that truly is the series that wont die.

Also fwiw, I am pretty sure let's sing is only getting a pal release.
  • was there a lets sing 2017?

No.  But, for anyone collecting Wii, I suggest you buy the 2016 version while you can...there is a whole thread on this.  I'm actually surprised to hear they are releasing a 2018 version.

  • Dang, I was hoping for a whole new game. This one was announced for Wii during E3 a few months back. But yeah, the Wii is forever.

You must be the 3rd, and I must be the 4th.

  • I was blown away in my Walmart electronics section a few days ago when I found three sealed copies of PS2 GTA "The Trilogy" for $19.99 each. They just remodeled the electronics section earlier this year so I doubt these have been floating around the store this whole time. I initially thought it might be a brand new release and was surprised to see it came out in 2006 and I had never heard of it. Still pretty damn cool to see copies of a PS2 game sitting amongst the PS3 and 360 games in 2017 like that.
  • The only similar game I can think of is Tony Hawk 3 for Nintendo 64, it came out nearly a year after the previous final N64 game had come out. I can remember leading up to its release there was a lot of speculation on message boards whether the game was a hoax or not. I remember calling Gamestop or Electronics Boutique at the time about a week before the release date and they told me it wasn't a real game.
  • As a Wii U collector... hell yes!
  • Remember when Let's Sing 2016 was supposed to be the next Stadium Events until a wholesale seller on eBay completely bombed the whole market/value of it?

    L.O.L.
  • Nope, it doesn't count, it is being released after the life cycle of the wii...

In reality, quite neat! I don't play or collect wii, but it is quite interesting to see another title being released at this point.

I'm pretty sure that was his point.  He doesn't have to buy another game to keep his full Wii U set complete.

Maybe we should start a discussion as to what counts in the full set.  What could go wrong?

I don't think any game that uses motion controls should count because I don't want to buy all of those games?  Thoughts?

My walmart has 3 copies of this as well. Theyve been sitting on the shelf for at least 2 years now. Hard to believe they havent clearanced them or something yet.

I think you are underestimating this and are uninformed about 2 things:

    1. We won't really know how much LS 2016 will be worth till about 15 years from now when the possibility of its price will increase due to Wii collectors buying them up.

    2.  We also don't know how many copies there are.  There could be 300, 1000, or 10000.  No one really knows.

What we do know is this...it is impossible to find in the wild right now.  The only places you can find this is on Ebay or Amazon, and the price is already above 50 dollars for a brand new copy.  The price has fluctuated.  One cannot simply....say that this was a flop because of a wholesaler selling the recalled copies.  I honestly don't think it will ever be worth as much as Stadium Events is right now, but you never know.  Rarity changes all the time, the number of available listings change over the seasons, and as time goes on, this will be an extremely hard to find game, anywhere.

All of the Wal-Marts in my area have at least one or two copies.
