I think Jamie will sacrifice himself fighting white walkers to redeem himself. Jon might become Night King and leave into deep north to comeback again after thousands of years.

And I can bet $50 right now, Tyrion will ride one of those dragons sometime in the last season.

Hard to think Jaime will do anything but go down with the Walkers, but I think him having Valyrian steel confirms he will at least make it to the walkers.

Out of curiosity, how would Jon become the Night King?  He is about to find his true origins soon, which will potentially change the political aspect of things which could get interesting, but I feel strongly that the Night King is tied to another one of the Stark boys...

For Tyrion, there is speculation that he could actually be Targaryen, but with only 6 episodes left, I find it super hard to think they'll touch on that on the show before it concludes.  (I originally thought we'd confirm the 3 of them as Targs and each would have their own dragon)

In the books, he is pretty clearly a Targaryen, and they make a point of talking about his purple eye (which is a Targaryen feature).

^ LOL, I don't think they're saying they watch the show for the sex scenes but rather noting how far we're deviating or past the point in the books. My mild understanding of the books is that they are far more raunchy, especially with our beloved Khaleesi.

I just found it funny that his response to disagreeing  was what about the sex scenes

This season wasn't nearly as good as the first few. However, I did really enjoy the opening of episode 1 (payback for the red wedding) that was really good.

Rest was predictable and lacked the shock value I'd grown used to.

     just disagree completely.

yea a few things are predictable, but weve had 7 seasons of a show and the books since the 90s. Fan theories and guesses have been around for years. Some of them will be right. We have 7 years of this show and all the drama and story is coming to a head. Just because you think something might happen doesnt make it just as awesome finally seeing it on screen. Its a payoff. Every season of game of thrones is really good(7 included). But dont pretend the first few are any better. There were some dull story moments and feet dragging in those episodes that at times barely drug along. Not every episode was great. This past season had so much payoff and edge of your seat watching, there wasnt a weak episode in the bunch. Were there a few things i wished they wouldve tweaked. Yea sure, but it was very entertaining regardless.

But i get it, once something gets too popular, some people have to hate. Usually starts with "the first seasons were great"

To say the rest was predictable but the arya revenge red wedding wasnt? Thats kinda laughable. The second that scene started i thought everyone already knew it was arya so the unveil was pretty predictable. Doesnt mean it wasnt awesome to see though even though its predictable.

These last couple seasons were not based on GRRM and it is clear from the start. How many nude and or sex scenes have their been this season?

We had a PG-13 one at the end of the last episode but that is all that I recall. Were there any others?

I am fine with that, dicks and pussies a bit unsetting, I always have to pick a time when kids are not around and all this BS...if anything I am glad they cut the rope on that.

he forgot about the most ridiculous one. Where a guy with no dick and balls is eating out that hot dany assistant(never can remember her name). They drug that one out unreasonably long for no reason
  • Missandai I think is her name...funny that her and Tormund (the crazy redhead) are both in the Fate of the Furious movie too. Damn she's a hottie.

The books are way more graphic than what they could show on HBO.

Two deviations from the book that I'm wondering about, at this point:

...or people actually had issues with how they tried to cram an entire season's worth into 3 episodes less than usual?

The show has been popular for many years now, it has nothing to do with that. A lot of vital plot points and reveals were hastily done, where as earlier seasons (really even up to last season) had a much more comfortable pace where things could simmer. I've seen more people take issue with that than anything else this season. I think if they had 10 episodes the pacing would have been a lot better and made for a much more enjoyable show. I don't get why they went with half-ish seasons when it's clear they had enough content to fill out full seasons. HBO obviously wants to milk GOT for as long as possible so it seems like a no brainer.

Anyway all in all I really enjoyed this season. There were just some really weak moments that took me out of the immersion a bit.

you watch the show for sex scenes? jesus. Everyone likes seeing hot chicks naked, but Id gladly remove all of it, if they would take out the all the gay dude sex scenes from early in the show. Makes a great show nearly unwatchable with family.

who watches game of thrones for the sex scenes? really? Theres tits and ass all over the internet. You didnt like this season because there wasnt enough sex? Welp thats a first.

That isn't why I watch the show. It is one way and perhaps the most obvious way to illustrate that the show is much different now.

  • ^^^^ the book isnt going to be the same as the show. So there is nothing to be mad about. Show and book are two different things
  • They've been merging characters for years now. Season 1 is pretty spot on to the books, but after that no so much. I understand it's a thing. I'm not losing sleep over this I assure you. There are some character merges that I find a little bit harder to accept than others though.

Two deviations from the book that I'm wondering about, at this point:

  • well another incest, well done Snow
  • going back watching the first couple seasons on blu ray. Have only seen these once. Knowing what I know now, I catch so much more detail of whats going on in season 1 so far. When I first started watching the show, like most people, it was alot to take in with houses and families and learning who was who exactly. But knowing all about the history and whats going on, it makes a good rewatch
  • Well any other peeps excited for tonight?!?!? I'm legit pumped after a 2 year wait, can't wait to see how it all plays out.
  • I'm excited of course, but waiting a week at a time kills me. I die. I subbed to Crave so I can watch right as they come out, to avoid spoilers.
  • So anyone care to share their theories?

    My take:

Winner of the War: Jon Snow

    On the Throne: Bran Stark

Major Plot Twist: Tyrion Lannister betrays Denarys for Circei Lannister. Why? Because he said he'd do anything for her children because he loved them. They made a plot that night they met up after the meeting fell apart. It's the reason she came back with him to begin with instead of taking him prisoner or killing him...this plot will be carried out by Lord Varys. Remember, he serves the realm and Danerys intends to "break the wheel"
  • Episode's over! It was pretty good, especially considering all of the stuff going on, giving us a brief recap and catch-up on everything was pretty welcome.

@PowerPlayers - Considering the hit out on Tyrion and Jaime I doubt Tyrion will suddenly be team Cersei.
  • I'm still gonna stick to my guns on that theory, for now, but it's not looking good right now!

I can't wait to watch the episode a second time later this week.

Anyone else think the burning child was a little over the top and dragged out a little long?

Also, Bran is a snide three-eyed-raven ain't he? "Waiting for an old friend" hah.
  • I wish I could binge this whole season right now. It was too good to stop.

That scene with Samwell learning about his father and brother, heart breaking. I don't think he had any issues telling Jon that he was the true king after that point.

Looking towards next week, who knows what's going to happen to Jaime. I don't think Dany will kill him, as I'm sure they will find out VERY shortly that the white walkers are heading their way and need all the help they can.
  • a coat of arms MADE OF HUMAN ARMS!

    yuk yuk yuk

    Bolded for truth, poor Sam!

As for the white walkers, some theories say that in the 6 episodes they might actually work through that battle by episode 4 or 5 to allow for a final battle of the folks still in the fight.

A great episode, I watched it twice back to back and loved every minute of it.

  • ugh, these weren't the GoT I grew up with- it's just too commercial and not enough action and oh, so now everyone has magic? CGI much? nope. I'm boycotting and I hope you all do too! when will you stop destroying my childhood George rr martin!!!!

I think that was an attempt at a star wars joke. Its too ridiculous to be anything else

  • Was a good character development episode

Funny scenes to me were the flying dragon date - my head was playing 'a whole new world' when they were flying around.

Then the dragon knowing what's up about John haha
  • Am I the only one who thinks Melisandre will come to kill the night king? Or give Aegon Targaryen the power to do so?

you might as well travel back in time, molest me, and then sell that as a set of toys beacuse that's how i feel. Now, let me list the 309 ways i could have done it better.

it's a fanboy joke, because have a dialed in fan base is a double-edged sword- it's like having a walking bilboard, no, a walking marketing department what with GoT preview parties all last night, but it's also tough to please everyone who's signed on. the YA dragon ride/waterfall scene did nothing to advance the plot (unless jon is killing the queen), but i'm ok with being patient and watching the events unfold. it all i felt season 2 dragged a lil, or was it 3? it's very cool to see it end and i'm hoping bran becomes the ice lord guy, or i'm gonna post everywhere how george rr ruined my life.

  • Wtf?

I still cant follow that drivel you just posted.
