So I just got Quake Wars : Enemy Territory for the PS3
I finally went to trade some of my PS3 games that were gathering dust. So I got Quake Wars. I just remembered Quake from a couple years back when I used to play it and thought why I don't give it a chance. The game isn't as great as I assumed. Why do so many new FPS's have to be Call of Duty or Halo influenced? It's like every other game is essentially the same; if I hadn't known the title or weapons I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this game and a bunch of random FPSs from the last 5 years. Why does this game have the muddy or pale/rainy grayish background? Actually most new games have this, and it totally makes for a dull and lifeless background. I'm really not interested or impressed in how well they can graphically develop semi-arid space backgrounds either. Why can't they be more original to stick to the original Quake characters? Why does everything have to become over computerized and airbrushed for the sake of it?
Remember when games were actually scary or even disturbing? I don't find modern first person shooters scary at all. The excessive blood and scary stuff in most games with horror or dark sci-fi themes aren't working well with modern graphics at all, at least most of them. It seems like the developers have been diluting this stuff so it seems acceptable to all rather than focusing on doing what they want with it like they did with Doom 1, Wolf 3d, Quake, Blood, Daggerfall etc...
If you like this game, what do you like about it? Just curious to hear different opinions
For those of you who own a PS3 what games do you recommend that I trade for this one? I can't decide what games to trade in.
