Mario Odyssey Bundle up for pre-order

Didn't see this around, but figured a couple might be interested as I see these selling fast. Up on BB Canada. Looks like they are sold out at the moment on amazon.ca, although they may have not been on sale yet and there is a place holder... not sure. Kinda sucks that it's a digital copy of the game. Regardless I got one.

  • Hate that these come with digital codes.
  • I can't stand limited editions of games with no actual game, and a digital code (looking at you sonic)

There is no reason why this console shouldnt come with physical copy even in a smaller box or something
  • Completely agree. Pretty dumb in my opinion. I REALLY hope the Switch is able to swap save data by then too, but not holding my breath. I want to sell my current Switch, but may have to swap out the tablet from this bundle to do so. I'm such a sucker for this set as I pretty much fully admit buying it for the box and the sake that it's a Mario bundle.
  • It sucks. Passing it just because of the digital only thing. Hate digital bundles ugh...want a physical copy of the game, but same time want the red joycons.
  • Much rather get one of those sweet NFR physical copies than a digital download, but seems to be the way they're going with bundles.
  • The Splatoon 2 bundle also came with a download code.
  • :/ I wonder if this is a sign of what's to come this Christmas...digital only bundles.
  • id rather they just gave a voucher to a retailer to get a physical copy of the game with the system at the time of purchase instead of a pack in download code. Would have been interested in this bundle if it wasnt a digital code.
  • Also sucks that on wii u save data on a digital game doesnt work with a physicsl disc. Im assuming the sane goes for switch so if you later got a physical copy youd have to start all over.

Switch has a pathetic amount of memory so a download code for a big release pretty much forces you to buy a large micro sd card from the start. Didnt zelda taje like 13gb? Thats like half the available useable memory.
  • Nice. Probably going to pick this up
  • Runour has it that the Australian/NZ bundle will have a physical copy of the game instead of the download code:

  • I skipped the Wind Waker Wii U bundle because it didn't come with a physical copy of the game. Kicking myself over that now though, since the gamepad controller is dope.

Anyway digital only bundles have been the norm for awhile now, haven't they? All (or maybe most) of the Wii U ones except for the original Nintendo Land were digital, and I know when I got an XBox 360 a few years ago it came with digital codes for games. Same with 3DS.

my WiiU came with Nintendo land (Digital) and ZombieU (Physical), definitely the PlayStations and Xboxes will be all digital though
  • Yep, how silly with 32gb of storage built-in. Damn, they cut costs any where they can find it seems...still can't get over not including a power cord with the N3DSXL - that should be borderline illegal lol.
  • I really can't get behind the whole paying full price for a digital version, how can they "possibly" charge the same price I just don't fucking get it.
  • Wow, that's disappointing. I was planning to get this bundle, too...

My mario kart wii u bundle came with a physical and a download code for a choice of one of 3 games.
  • Those joycons look real nice.

it boggles my mind why someone would do it. I see all these people selling stuff and they have digital games to gamestores or selling themselves on facebook etc. They cant get anything for it more than system going rate. They spent all that money. Im not saying youd be rich selling the games. But man, When I see 3ds systems and Wii U's with all these downloaded games on them. I tell them, I could have given you another 100 or so bucks if you just bought the games physical. I cant give you anything for this digital stuff.

If you are the type of person that doesnt keep things and trades stuff in, Buying digital makes you a fool. Especially people that buy nintendo games. First party nintedno games should never be bought digitally. You have nothing of value.

yeah like mario bros wii red bundle had that disc in a sleeve.

hell they could just put the game card in a sd card little thing in there. Better than nothing

That is my whole thing with it too, what if I just maybe want to trade it for another game of the same value down the road or just sell it for a lot while it is still retail....

Are people really that lazy they can't go to the store? I just don't get the appeal....Even if you can just order it from Amazon or something if that is the case.

  • Yeah I got really excited when the bundle was announced but that quickly faded when I found out it is digital only. I'm just going to buy a regular switch and the physical copy.
  • It's actually $20 more expensive than the system and game would be bought seperately. You're effectively paying $20 for the case which is dumb as shit. I'm still really on the fence about it. I'll likely keep my order and decide when I get it in hand. The no safe data transfer is the kicker for me. Don't really feel like losing all my Splatoon data or swapping the tablets to be able to sell my current Switch.

I just know these won't be around forever and would really like to get the console and box for collection reasons. I have the Mario 3 NES bundle, SNES SMW bundle, classic 64, Sunshine GC bundle, Mario anniversary Wii and Mario Maker Wii U bundle, so I really would like to have this. Digital is definitely a piss off though. One very minor saving grace for me is that this would be my Switch forever, but still.

think of it this way, you can take Super Mario Odyssey with you on the go along with any switch game card of your choosing.
  • I don't care if a packin is digital. It would never be opened anyway.

It is nice to see something different about the system. Color/design etc. A limited edition color or design I should better than a pack-in.

The problem I have with this bundle is the cost.

    How is this $500?

    Shouldn't this be $360?

That link is Best Buy Canada. It looks like it is $379.99 in the US
  • Canadian funds. Add another $75 in tax in my province for a grand total $574.99.

Funny how the Canadian dollar is now up to 82 cents American, yet the price remains as if it were worth 10 cents less on the dollar. Oops, scratch that if it's $380 and not $360. I guess that would be 75 cents on the dollar which is more palatable. I feel bad for the Canadian folk who collect for the Switch

Shouldnt this be $359.99 or $299.99?

  • Because it's a new console that they can barely keep in stores. It probably won't be due for a price drop for another year
  • Or they think a carry case is worth $20.
