Don't forget the people that wanted one, but were too lazy and too full of bullshit excuses to bother trying to get one, so they just blame Nintendo.

Oh yea, those of us who are adults and work for a living with an early shift are REALLY too lazy because we didn't wait in like instead of going to work.  Yea that's it!  Screw those lazy people!

If i worked early i would have went out for a midnight release. if i worked late i would have camped out for a morning release. add to that the u.s. labor laws and there is no real reason any free american shouldnt have been able to get the day off. call it what it is. if you didnt get one its because you didnt care enough to put in the effort. just pay a scalper. they arent even that pricey.

According to the main reddit thread, the guys behind the NES version of Hakchi2 are working on it. They are working on some other features as well and want to make sure it's relatively brick-proof before releasing it. It's coming, just a matter of patience

I dunno if i would hack mine but i will let other people be the lab rats first. I still think dreamcourse should have been replaced with something else like Cybernator.

No way! Kirby's Dream Course is a great game.

Also, there'd be no reason to leave it out because Nintendo doesn't have to pay any kind of license to include KDC.

I'd like to hack the Japanese story / intro back into the USA ROM.

It would have been a bit easier before April last year, when Nintendo reduced their ownership of the Seattle Mariners to just 10%.

Last year my local Target got freaking two minis and the crowd of people waiting there flocked over to Best Buy where they had already passed out 25 vouchers to the30+ standing in line. I was number 9 iirc. I was in the Best Buy line from the start (which opened one hour later than Target) and grabbed my ticket and had breakfast before they opened, then passed by the vultures outside to claim my prize...

This year I have a full time job that starts at 8am so it's a bit more complicated.

I plan on hanging outside the Target store in the early morning shortly before daybreak. Around 730, I'll call in to tell my supervisor I had car trouble and am running late. I should be able to clock in by 820 or so, 830 at the latest, and I haven't been late to work once since I started there in late July. Not the best strategy on the planet but sure beats eBay scalpers, and I think I can afford one "point" and be okay.

    = = = = = = = = = =

Stars were still out when I started waiting outside target. Air felt nice until the sun came out. And I was fist in line getting there ariund 545. More people didn't start showing up until 730.

I called in as planned around 740 with "car troubles." At time of opening they had 30 minis and about mid teens of people in line. We made it back to the electronics in an orderly fashion. I checked out and drove to work. However before I left the parking lot I couldn't help but notice the line that formed in front of Best Buy. I opened the sun roof of my car waiving the SNES Mini in the air while slowly coasting by, honking my horn once or twice to make sure they noticed. Arrived at work about 815 and clocked in. My supervisor got the memo about being a couple minutes late so no "points" were taken off. Only two of my coworkers know I got the snes mini and they are sworn to secrecy. I had to really try hard not to gloat all day about my loot.

After work it was off to join a group of cyclists Friday evening so it was after 9 when I got home. No chance to post until now.

I got my first crack at the SNES Mini this afternoon. First play was Super Mario RPG. I have been a longtime fan of the game, but sadly my old save file on my SNES copy erased after I was knocking the door to Smitty's Castle. I had unlocked the pathway to Crulex too and was planning on tackling him after Smitty. Sadly in 2012 I shelved the cart, and by 2015 my save was erased...

Good news I get to start a new replay and it really is an excellent game. I played to Mushroom Kingdom and saved before I entered the great hall. Next up I played some Yoshi's Island, beat the first stage, then onto Super Mario World, got the Switch palace and beat Iggy in Castle #1. Not sure which path I will take from there. Probably the long route instead of the star road. Next up was Kirby Super Star, played through the first mode where the snacks got stolen from Dreamland. Only seven stages to beat the game? I expected more LOL. Also Dedede was a pushover spamming him the bomb ability, but very difficult if you approach him unarmed. Too bad Dreamland 3 wasn't included as that game is hard to find unless you import a Japanese copy. Next onto Zelda Link to the Past, rescued Xelda and exit the castle. From there some Donkey Kong Country, beat the first stage easily, then died stupidly in the rainy stage. I didn't get to the save station regrettably. Tried and failed to unlock the first stage of Starfox to unlock Starfox 2, but I was getting tired at this point so I turned it off. I also tried Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting. Not quite as good as the ports I have for Genesis, PCe, and Switch, but oh well. I'm glad they included something.

Big brother, little brother. Or sisters for that matter. I have never thought about what gender to assign a console. They do look cute together though...

I'm working on a similar Famicom Family photo. I was going to wait until I had the Super Famicom mini to go with my Super Famicom, but...

  • I preordered mine so got it day one hassle free.

What are stock levels like around the world?

In Australia, we have a heap of stock. Walked into a few stores today and they have 20+ sitting in displays waiting to be purchased. Complete opposite to the nes mini release which was sold out almost instantaneously upon release of stock.
  • Looks like they are still being scalped at 140-150 shipped, I think it will drop down even more after the next wave.

The pool of people willing to pay that much will slowly shrink, and the scalpers will have to undercut each other to move them.

Some of the scalping ads are pretty desperate lol
  • Hahaha, that is good to hear. I do hope when the nes classic comes back that they pack another controller in the box, i would love Earthbound Beginnings too but adding titles is less likely then an extra controller.
  • Gamestop stated that more are going to be in stock "very soon" so hopefully that's in a week or less.

  • I've noticed a lot of folks on NA trying to swap the US for the PAL console. Why is that...?

Because by today's standards, most consdier the SFC version to be much more attractive.

    Also, because collecting.

I don't know why. The SFC/SNES PAL is so blah looking. :/

I think it looks better, but that's my opinion today.  I can't stand when some people try to say that they have "always preferred" the SPC to the SNES.  I don't care who you are, everyone thought the SNES looked bad ass when it first came out.

  • Maybe because the SNES yellows like crazy, but a nice light gray one is an attractive console.
  • My Amazon order is still in "preparing to ship", and also still says it will arrive on Wednesday, so we shall see. >_>
  • I have been visiting several places and asking and here in Miami is the same across the board sold out in 10-15 minutes. And there is 0 mention of nore on the way. YIKES
  • From what I heard, Gamestop should get more stock on Friday morning in stores. Fingers crossed that will be true. I am sure everyone will eventually get one in time.
  • I have one that some friends picked up for menI was just trying to help another friend here that his birthday was on the release day and sadly no stores had them in stock.

I actually hope it remains $60 and only 1 controller.

I want to buy 12+ controllers. If/when they come back. Most of the parts swap easily with old original NES controllers -- so the new ones can be used to make like-new refurbished controllers.

Ditto. The purple accents are boss, and the carts have labels you can read stacked. To me the US console seems sytlized like an old boxy  cadallac. The Euro/Japan models seem neutered somehow. Ditto for the SNES2.

  • I was able to get a SNES Classic last night at Best Buy. Some lady returned one and my buddy, who works there, called me and said to come get it.

Apparently they didn't sell out on release day until around 1pm.

I'm curious why someone would return one of these. The way I imagine this happening is that she waited in line for over an hour to get one, brought it home to her bratty kid who then said.... "I wanted the NES classic!!! Wah!!!"

    and then she returned it....

  • I picked one up friday morning at target around 9AM , 1 guy in front of me worked there and was buying one, lady walked in behind me and tried to cut in line but we were both in luck and we got the last 2 , the guy that walked in behind her was out of luck though. now i need some controller extension cables though.

I'm not sure.  But I opened the box and everything was still factory wrapped and new.  It wasn't really in demand and the store didn't sell out until that afternoon.  She may have bought it thinking it was something else.

When the Switch came out I ordered from two places because 1) I didn't know if any of my preorders would get cancelled (not unheard of with Nintendo items)  2) I didn't know which would get to me first, since sometimes shipments arrive a day before release or not until a few days later and 3) it was something I really wanted and was looking forward to and didn't want to risk any of those above factors. The person that returned it might have done the same thing, order a couple to ensure they got one and then return the extra.

My SNES Classic is set to arrive in the mail today, I also have a PAL version shipping today and hope to get an order for the Super Famicom at some point.
  • Have had mine preordered from Amazon since August...still no shipping notice.

Yeah, kind of annoying there is no update or anything since the original purchase order. My order status still sits at pending. I ordered mine to a friends house in the States and I guess he just has to wait for a while? I could have ordered off another site, but figured amazon would be good for it.
