Zelda Majora's Mask Grey NFR Marker Removal

Hey everyone. Wanted your opinion on if I should look into having the marker removed from my majoras mask nfr. I'd assume a store employee was the one that circled the "not for resale" in black marker. Keep it or look for removal? Opinions greatly appreciated

  • From a paper label? I wouldn't
  • Yeah, I would just leave it.
  • Yeah, you'll do more harm than good. N64 labels are fragile as anything.
  • I would remove it with a dry erase marker. If you lightly draw directly on top of the permanent marker with a dry erase and then very carefully wipe it away with a dry cloth, both will come off. There may be slight discoloration/fading where the marker was. Obviously up to you, but I've had great success with this method and it's relatively low risk if done carefully. It kinda depends on how long the marker has been there, what brand, etc.

Have you done that to an N64 label though?   The spot it leaves on the label is faded where the permanent marker was.

As I said, it seems to depend more on the marker and how long it was there. If it's relatively fresh (even years) or a low grade marker than sometimes I've had zero fading. Other times there is definitely fading. In my personal opinion, I would prefer fading than a big black circle, but that's just me, I understand that not everyone would agree with that. I would at least try on a very small portion of the label, if it was mine, to see how easily it would come off.

I've done this myself to some pretty significant items in my collection and have never been unsatisfied with the results, including a few 64 games that turned out well. But again, this is my collection. It's just a suggestion for OP to use at their own risk if they want.
