Anyone have a NEW 3DS LL Looking for info.

Nintendo has the worst naming department in the history of videogames. Forget about the WII U for a second the "NEW Nintendo 3DS" has to be the most confusing in its history. Imagine searching for a used NEW item !



From what I gather these units don't play US games and you can't change the system to display English text. Is this correct?

Is the LL series the exact same as the XL series with the exception of the region lock and Japanese language text?



Finding information is bad enough just foget about finding past auctions on ebay. With a specific search I get zero results. With a broader search I get only new (meaning unopened) US systems.



We only paid $25 for the thing but if I can't get this to play US game or at the very least display English text this will be a hard item to sell at the store.

    Pretty sure all 3DS systems are region locked. Best you could do is play North American DS games

    What about the system text? Pretty sure we can change the US units to use a different languages. Can you turn the system text on a NEW 3DS LL into English?

    No- I haven't had a LL model- but plenty of the original ones that are Japanese.

    Depending on firmware, you may be able to soft mod it and change the menu text that way but I'm not 100%

    The LL is the Japanese version of the XL. You cannot change Japanese 3DS language settings to English. While it will play North American (and all other regions) DS games, it won't play DSi or 3DS games from any region other than Japan, as that's when Nintendo began region-locking their handhelds. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. I play most 3DS games in Japanese, I know my way around it.

    If you're looking to sell it, go to eBay. You may not have much luck selling it locally but import systems hold their value well online. You'll get a hell of a lot more than $25 for it.

    Shame that I won't have any luck with a local sale if it really is Japanese region only.

    Ebay looks like it might get ~150 based on past sales. As long as I get 100+ship I'm good.

    I would so much rather sell locally than deal with the ebay hassle but this just isn't an item local buyers would have much use for.

    It's definitely worth at least $100. They sell new for ~$200, so without the box in that condition it should go for $100 plus easily.
