You can get a virtual pet for a dollar shipped from China on Ebay if you really need a cheap junk nostalgia fix. I remember running to my locker in school to take care of my Tamagotchi though, and battling the Digimon ones that connected to each other.
Weren't Tomagatchis and Nanos for little girls? I remember the commercials and seeing them around now and then, but I didn't know anyone who had one. I thought it was a little girl thing.

I'm a guy and I had one (and a few other virtual pets too).
I happened to grab one of these in a bargain bin when they were going out waaaaayback when. It's setting on top of my games now.
Within the last month I'd actually considered cracking it open cause I thought it was fun and novel and wasn't going up much in price but, now, it looks like it might be worth the sell... hopefully.
We will see if there is a surge in collectibility come November.
lol I remember these things! Mine always died because I got lazy and annoyed with them. Shit I probably still have one in the basement somewhere...probably doesn't work...
The first girl I ever kissed gave me a Giga Pet (basically a knock off by Tiger) back in the 90s. I remember it dying when I woke up for the first day of school lol
Like others have said I don't know why they would come back now. It's something that could be done by an app since most kids have phones or tablets anyway.
I had one back then and I wasn't even a kid but it was entertaining off and on enough to keep it minimally entertained and alive. I think I could get into it again but a mobile phone version would be easier. If you can handle pokemon go time this would be simpler I think.
This game "brand" has come and gone since the initial release. I'm actually surprised if there isn't an app. I just assume this is Bandai(?) cashing in on throwback stuff since it's the 20th anniversary.

Did they even cost that much when they were new?
My siblings and I all had Digimon, though, since they were like a Tamogatchi that you could make battle each other.
