Collection milestone update
About a month ago I completed my NM+ N64 cart-only set. I finally got around to setting up a photo of everything. All of the game stacks in the (slightly shitty) N64 logo are six games deep, and then I laid out the valuable/rare titles in single stacks. There are a few games that I could update condition of sooner or later, but I would say all but 4-5 carts are in 8-9/10 condition or better. If anyone has a mint copy of Star Wars Rogue Squadron for sale, please let me know. I don't know how it happened, but I discovered the copy I have is in real crap condition... sigh.
Anyways, I won't bore NA with all the details, but the main steps of me getting into and completing the collection is as follows:
- bought CF:SC in a $100 lot from a reseller I used to buy from often back in late 2015 or so. This made me really start going for the full set (I believe I had 30-40 titles at the time I got CF:SC). I figure since I was going for cart-only I would go for mint games.
- Never hit eBay besides for several of the final 20-or-so titles within the past couple of months; I can't say "never", I guess as I did resort to eBay in 2016 for a nice shape Bomberman Second Attack. The majority of my set came from buying random N64 lots off CL to resell, as well as many NA trades/purchases
- got the final 50ish titles within the past few months thanks to really concentrating on brick-and-mortar shops, especially found a hidden gem in a local mom and pop shop in which I got around 15-20 NM carts.
- the only game I resorted to buying a sealed copy of was Razor Scooter as I could never find a mint copy without BB labels on it and whatnot; if any member has a nice shape cart-only, I would buy it just so I can have a copy not in the sealed box.
- Mario Kart and Zelda OoT were my first games I got for this collection. Back when it was N64-era and I was a child, OoT and Glover were my first games. I played Glover first but really didn't like it, so I ended up playing OoT for the long run.
- Fifa 99 was my last title I needed for my set.
Anyways, I just wanted to thank all the NA members that helped me thru trades and sales to complete this set. It has been a journey, and I set it in my mind that I would complete the set by the end of the 2017 year, so that was a success. Here's a photo of it all!
