New 3DS XL - Super NES Edition
I normally don't pre-order, but I just did for the 3DS XL SNES edition. Not sure if this really will have the following the SNES Classic will, but it will go nicely with my other handheld editions. It comes with a Mario Kart download.

And still not coming with a charger I see. Definitely intended for people to upgrade from whatever iteration they currently have.
God help the young kid now who in his middle age starts collecting retro and system variants he grew up with.
Was just thinking this, it's way oversaturated at this point. Sure it looks nice, but if Nintendo felt like it they could spew out 100 more nice-looking 3DS models. Just because the possibilities are endless doesn't mean you should just make them all. There must be 100 different models of 3DS at this point. Enough.

As long as people are buying them, why wouldn't they keep making them? The fact that it will be difficult and expensive to collect them many years down the road should be the least of Nintendo's concern.
That's like saying that LRG should slow their schedule down because it's too expensive for the people trying to collect a full set. It makes no sense.

Thought it looked great since the first pic showed the inside, but then I saw the outside and it looks terrible. Should've just kept the outside gray with the Super Nintendo text and make the L/R buttons purple.
+1

I realize it makes business sense, it's just makes me roll my eyes to watch new ones roll out every 45 minutes, no different than the facepalm-worthy LRG releases, which is the #1 stupidest thing in modern gaming in my opinion.

So what you're saying is you'll be picking one of these up day 1!?
Although, I love my smaller n3ds. It's too bad they didn't make SNES cover plates for it.

Yes, I'll be pre-ordering 2 of them. One to leave sealed, and the other one to also leave sealed, but to keep for 5 years and sell for ONE MILLION DOLLARS
Also, don't like the design, the famicom version beats this one by miles.
I wish there was a way to know!
I ordered one. I got the Japanese Super Famicom 3DS last year too. It was just too dang good-lookin'. Glad we finally got the Super Nintendo version here. I already have enough 3DSes, this one will stay in the box. Quick question actually for 3DS collectors, not sure this is the right place for it, but do you have to worry about the lithium battery going bad? I have about 5 3DSes and while I don't use them all I give them all a full charge once or twice a year just because I'm worried about the battery crapping out/exploding.
I've had that thought myself about the batteries. I buy these 3DS and keep them sealed, so opening to charge isn't really an option for me. Wouldn't mind hearing someone's advice on this.
Not a fan to be honest. I'm going with the Pokeball 2DS instead. Cool for SNES enthusiasts though I guess.
Have to say I do think that Pokeball design is pretty awesome. 10 year old me would have loved this.

Yeah, I don't collect to sell, so it isn't really a big deal for me to open them up and charge them occasionally. Just curious since there are still boxed/new DSes on ebay that are over ten years old and I'm just wondering if the battery can survive that.
I don't have a 3DS, so I preordered one. At worst, I can gripe about it if I get un-pre-ordered and beaten to it by scalpers like what happened with the SNES classic
If you don't have a 3DS, you'll have to buy a charger separately as an FYI.
