Gamecube Component Cables? Where Can I find some?

Gamecube Component Cables? Where Can I find some? I cant see myself paying $200 plus for a set of cables, are there any other alternatives? Composite to Component is a big difference, any help guys and gals.

  • Sadly, everyone knows how rare the component cables are, so if you want them, you're going to pay for them. Unless you get lucky and find them at a thrift store or something. There is an HDMI adapter available, but the guy who made it didn't make it all that well. There's quite a few other people designing HDMI adapters, though. If you can hold out a few more months, there should be some available from a few different makers.

    Probably the easiest/cost effective solution.

As of now there is not. I bought mine orginally from the Nintendo Online store back in like 2002. I actually recall using dial up internet to make the purchase. Yes 480p is a huge leap from 480i. I remember buying

an HD CRT TV ($900) from best buy and playing Gamecube (Metroid) and Xbox (Halo) in 480p via the component cables. I was literally blown away and still remember what that initial shock and awe and felt like....Almost like seeing boobs for the first time or a pair of womens panties that were not my moms. It was that good!!!

New From Nintendo!!! Gamecube Component Cables...........Not your moms underwear.

  • Oddly enough, everyone I know who has a set (4 different people) got them for free or a few bucks. But they were all lucky. So that's your answer. Get lucky or shell out the money online.

Well, not all Wiis can play GC games.  If you can open the door on the top and find 4 GC controller ports and 2 GC memory card slots, you are good to go.  There will be no lag outside of anything caused by your TV (unrelated to your system).

Wish I'd known that before I got my wife a Wii a few years ago.  Oh well, she just wanted it for Wii Fit, and the black ones look cooler anyways.

The good news is that if you don't have a GC compatible Wii, you should be able to find one for about $20.  Much easier and cheaper than finding GC component cables.

  • Wait if I have an hdmi adapter to play my wii in 480p, that would be the same as using gamecube component cables?

I believe so. The only reason to have a regular game cube is for the GB player
  • Hmmm just tried it and it doesn't look that great. Maybe I need to mess with the tv settings

there do exist black wiis that play gamecube games, I have one.
  • Yeah the Gamecube is the one console that I feel is totally pointless to have, even more than a PS1. At least the PS1 start up sound is epic. It amazes me how many people with Wii's clearly have no idea you can open up the top and its a Gamecube.
  • I did not know, but appears mine plays Gamecube games.

Ah I did forget this one feature, so it's technically not useless to have a Gamecube. I never fell in love with GBA games they way I did GB and GBC growing up.

  • back when the wii launched, there wasn't much to play. the gamecube support was a huge selling point. there were so many former gamecube accessories that got repackaged as wii compatible.

what's truly sad is the wii is over 10 years old now, where did the time go???

The phenomenon of time speeding up as people age is a very real thing for many, I've felt it has happened to me the past 15 years. The 1990s felt so slow for me and each year was very different from the last. Maybe it's because we've all been stuck on Facebook and Youtube for ten years straight now, but I often feel that I'm just living in a big blur in the modern age. I've never met somebody who said that everything seems to be slowing down for them or that time doesn't pass as quickly as it used to.
  • I won my Wii for free during a Christmas party the year it came out
  • For gameboy games I use the super gameboy, no I have no reason to get a GameCube

Yeah it's just GBA and GBC games on a TV that would be the Gamecube Player selling point.

  • Better off getting in line for this: https://zzblogs.wixsite.com/home

GC to HDMI v3.0 -- $100 comes with the module and a 6ft HDMI cable too. If your cube has that post, you plug this newly formed plug version of the device (v2 shorted out a cube) and you get 720p output on a TV that looks as clean and detailed as like using that dolphin emulator with iso downloads. That's far cheaper than $300+ for the legit cable. Nintendo made them custom with a chipset inside it instead of the system so there are no same style knockoff wires to buy.

Yeah, but the Game Boy Player includes Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance too.

The point is, don't get rid of your GameCubs just yet.

also the SNES controller is much better suited for it. Unless you wanna spend the money on a Hori Pad. I believe there's adapters to use snes controllers as well
  • If you own a WiiU with a jailbroken Wii channel, you can install Nintendont and run Gamecube ISOs of an SD card.

It was directed toward anyone with a GameCube.

But it sounds like you are good to go with your setup, as long as you are using Wii component cables (many people just use the composite cables that came with it).  Luckily Wii component cables are a dime a dozen.

SNES Classic Mini solves this problem as well.     I'd love to get another GameCube again but since my TVs won't work with old signals or the HD Retrovision stuff the Wii will have to do!
