  • One other problem that i know people that are still trying to get one are facing is the fact that some employees working these stores call their friends as soon as they get a shipment in. It's hard to compete with that. I've heard this happen locally countless times. Wouldn't be such an issue if the replenished shipments were more than a few pieces.

^ This is true and quite dispicable.  The same thing happened when the last round of Nuka Cola Quantum was released at Target.  There was a half dozen employees that bought them all still in the shipping cases.  But as a bonus the district manager fired all of them.  If it wasn't for a buddy if mine across the country getting lucky finding one I'd be out of luck.

  • Seems like Walmarts in Canada got a bunch of stock of these. I live in the middle of nowhere and my store got 12.
  • Somebody got boned buying an SNES classic and a fake NES classic on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/222680806206?orig_cvip=true

The seller hints that the NES is fake but doesn't say it outright. People were in a hurry to bid and didn't bother to read the description I guess.
  • I heard that TRU said on twitter they were restocking snes classics this friday (I didnt verify)
  • Walmart is getting regular drops of single boxes of 6 at various locations around the country. My county is fairly large with many in it and surrounding areas too and it seems each day 1-2 of like 10-15 spots have a box of 6 that come in. They're out there and consistently so, just not in huge numbers yet far better than maybe 6 at all period like the NES had going on.
  • Our Best Buy just got some in, but can't release to the floor until Friday.
  • The simple fact that anyone in this thread still has to wait or search for one tells us that Nintendo didn't keep their word with demand. You shouldn't have to put yourself on a damn waiting list to play a mere tiny fraction of SNES titles "officially" through HDMI!

Never in my entire life have I had to wait for 1 single video game or video game system. My entire life I've been able to buy them all on launch day with no problems. This is 2017 and I'm disappointed in Nintendo handling both the NES and SNES Classic. You seriously have to be a stupid company to not meet demand like this. It would be like McDonalds saying they're out of Shamrock Shakes after the first day they go on sale in Feb/March. You didn't factor in the demand in 2017?! Really?! I took Business 101 but apparently Nintendo didn't.

I'm not trying to bash them as a whole but on this particular matter, yes. There's simply no excuse. You can't tell me they didn't think demand would be high for what's widely regarded as the most popular Nintendo system of all time....?! I don't think I want to give them my money anymore even if I find one because this is just ridiculous. Sony, Microsoft, and the PC world of gaming have never once done this to me. It's almost like they purposely did it to force a collectors market on it (limited supply/higher prices/having to hunt down or wait in lines).

Who knows though? Maybe months after this post they will flood the markets with fresh supply. I'm just drinking some beer and decided to rant my opinion on the matter.
  • Last check, One Bestbuy has a couple in my area of Phoenix. Everywhere else, gone.

Thanks for the heads up. I finally got one today at the local store. Looks like they got at least 40, and there were only a few people in line for tickets. I guess supply is finally meeting demand, or the scalpers have given up at this point.

How many units does business 101 say to add for scalpers?

The Wii Classic edition is out already?

Really?  Nintendo stepped it up big time this go around, it is not hard at all to find them, you just gotta be a little patient and follow this site:

    https://www.istocknow.com/live/#device.0=snes&nostock=on&newstock=on&brands=7,18,27,24,26,22,2,16&lowzoom=0&position=40.0568906893595, -92.86791934334565&zoom=5

Like right now, they look to be in stock all over Walmarts in the southern part of the US.  Not sure TRU is on here though, but Target, Walmart and Gamestops are.  Folks are getting them at TRU today, if you have time to give your local one a call.

I helped a coworker snag one with 0 effort, and Nintendo is continually supplying retailers.  This is no where remotely close to the NES Classic ordeal.  Not sure you're being fair, this particular item has a crazy high demand, given the upcoming holidays as well, and they've done admirable thus far in my opinion.

You're upset because you couldn't casually walk in day 1 and pick yours up off of a pallet full?  C'mon let's be fair, even standard games sometimes are OOS day 1.

  • Looks like they are confirmed at TRU, I've heard people are coming in and they are sitting on the shelves.

Between now and black friday will probavly be your best chance to get one easily.

Nintendo could hand deliver them to people's doors and some will still be salty over it.

  • So I literally walked in for my shift, and saw a bunch of SNES classics just chilling waiting to be bought.

There will be NO online orders (to ship or pick up). You need to be at the store to buy one, end of story.

Crappy of the seller to advertise like that, yes absolutely. Really though if you are spending that kind of money and don't take the time to read a description, your own damn fault.

I think most people understood what I was trying to get at. I'm talking about the cartridge era of the late 80s and 90s, hence the "Classic" part of the Nintendo minis. I was just sticking up for everyone who still hasn't been able to find one. Maybe it's easy where you live but we don't all live where you do. Scalpers are surely contributing to the hold up.

I actually don't care about the day 1 thing that much for the reason you stated. What I do care about is here we are over a month after it was released and I STILL can't casually walk into a store and buy one. Day 1 OOS is understandable. I've never had this problem with any game or system I've bought in the past.

  • Best Buy had a whole bunch just sitting there waiting to be bought, should be easy to get a hold of one, unfortunately I did not have the cash to get one for myself.
  • It's always amusing to me when it's extremely obvious that someone's opinion was decided well before the fact, and no amount of logic or reason will change their mind.

Well, we don't live in a socialist society where everything is guaranteed. Of course some places might not get as many as other places. That's a reality of retail. If you have never run into a shortage of something, then you just haven't been buying enough things to notice.

Why not sign up for the "Let's help each other out" thread? It has gotten a lot of them to people who can't find them locally.

All I know is my reality and the facts that go with it. I was born in 1985 and this is the first time in my entire life I've had to wait more than a month after release for ANYTHING video game related. I have always been able to either walk in a store, pre-order online, or simply order online normally in the first week of release. Maybe I've just had good luck my entire life? IMO it speaks volumes as to how the "other guys" do business compared to Nintendo. For example, I've never had to put myself on a waiting list for anything from Sony so I'm not going to start with Nintendo. That being said, if I find multiple SNES Classics on a shelf somewhere I will buy more than one to help someone out here.

  • Walked into the BestBuy in the town my parent live in on Saturday. They had a table set up with 14 SNES Classics on it along with a few Switches and Mario Odyssey. I called a couple friends who had been looking for the SNES Classic (since I got one on release day). My wife and I picked up two for may friends... then I came back with my dad about half an hour later and picked one up for my brother for Christmas.

I asked the cashier and he told me that they had come in on Friday. They got about 25 of them and they had been sitting on that table right inside the door ever since. So almost 24 hours later they still had several....

I had a friend from work who just happened to be at Best Buy when they got a shipment on Friday. He was able to score one, said there were three left when he left the store and no one else there interested.

I take it you didn't pick up a PS3 when they launched and only shipped 200,000 consoles the first month or so. I forget how long it took for them to come in numbers, but they were damn scarce at launch and scalpers were selling for upwards of $1200 on the Bay (and a few sold for that amount.) If you got one, yes, you're lucky. The rest of us had to wait.

I still have my original fully BC PS3. I bought it the first weekend (not the first day) it came out at Best Buy in person on a Saturday morning.

You are correct sir. I will have to settle for my current setup...HD Retrovision component cables and SD2SNES + the small handful of SNES games the SD2 doesn't play.

Well, that brings up another point. It's not like this is some new console and the only way to play certain exclusive games. With the exception of StarFox 2 (and even that's been hacked now), all these games are freely available. This is of interest if you're 1) wanting a nostalgia trinket, 2) collect Nintendo, or 3) never heard of emulators. I get it, but it's not like this should be something to lose your mind over.

How close are you to Philly? I find it hard to believe one Best Buy is the only place stocking these in your area code.
