What is that one Nintendo item that you will always regret letting go of?

Hi there. A n00b here wants to make some good conversation. My question is what is that one Nintendo item that you will always regret letting go of ? Does more than one thing come to mind? I want to hear your stories. I'll start off...

The one Nintendo item that I will always regret letting go of was a gold Legend of Zelda Gameboy Camera. I think there were only 500 made in the world. It functioned exactly like the rest of the line up except it included Legend of Zelda character facial feature options, fairies, etc. I ordered it thru an ad that came with my copy of Ocarina of Time. I was strapped for cash and desperate when I sold it. I've never seen anyone as excited as the guy that scored it off of eBay from me and I've never came accross another one again. One of my worst decisions of all time. Besides that... letting go of my gold release cartridges for Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, (yes I know that both are easily replaceable but there's nothing like "your" game and The Legend of Zelda is very dear to my heart), ever opening Chrono Trigger and then later selling it with the original box, manual, and poster to a funcoland for probably a ridiculous 10 to 20 bucks, and letting a friend borrow my miracle piano nes cartridge, keyboard, and a copy of the original nanoloop about a dozen years ago. I'll probably never see that again either

  • Probably my original copies of all my Nintendo consoles and games from my childhood before I traded them in for pennies at Software Etc...
  • Hindsight my friend.
  • Ya you made some horrible mistakes there haha. Ya i miss my original nes and games but ive never sold anything that wasn’t replaceable. My rule is never sell anything for less than you paid or that you can’t get again
  • the good finds you get early on hunting. i sold a lot of high end stuff i found in the wild to help build the collection but... i wish i kept them for the memories. now i keep price tags on thrift store finds and yard sale finds, and i refuse to sell anything i find locally.
  • Kept hold of most of my childhood stuff growing up, so not too many worries there. Obviously, tossed pretty much all the boxes and manuals etc. which I would love to have back...

But the thing that really frustrates me the most is when I got a bit more serious about actually collecting games in my late teens, I amassed a number of decent boxed titles within my collection. Then, I sort of lost interest for a while and chucked the boxes again, just as I had in my youth! Kept the games, chucked the damn boxes, even though I had already made that mistake once before! :S

Oh well, that will never happen again, not again! :/

Before I gave them to a friend who (unbeknownst to me) traded them in to e/b

  • A long time ago, I traded in some third party GameCube games I wasn't playing to GameStop. I regret the trade-in and miss those games, but at least I got Mario Party 4 and 7 in return.
  • Almost had a full NES set in 2003, with tons of variants and shit. Sold it all in one fell swoop for real cheap to some lucky duck on Craigslist. I was a broke-ass 19 yr old that needed quick cash and was more concerned with other things at the time but man did I regret that decision almost immediately, and every year after that, until I said fuck it and got back in the game over 10 years later. Now I have a way more focused and clean collection with a lot of quality control, less extra bullshit, and am closer to full set completion than I was in round 1.
  • I too gave away my childhood collection.

There's also the time I bought Conker BFD for $10 or so and returned it to the used record store the next day, but I don't think that would still be with me anyway.
  • Selling childhood games and systems all the way up from NES to PS3. It isn't about the money of course, it's about the sentimental value. It's the mad catz red ps1 (I know, not Nintendo) controller that was used so much it was molded into the shape of my hands. I used to go shopping every Wednesday when I was little with my mom. I got to rent one game a week from Wegmans. It's about all the old games I used to own or bought from the used bin there when they dumped inventory. And on and on...
  • My mint CIB of Chrono Trigger that I originally bought on launch day. I did manage to get a few bucks over $100 for it ~9 years ago so it wasn't a total loss.
  • Probably my CIB Wild Guns. Doubt i'll have ever slap down the cash to get one again.
  • Mario Galaxy. Sold it for some reason a few years back. Have it back now, thank god.
  • Kirbys fun pak. Traded it for god knows what. Now I have it on Wii U.
  • I sort of regret selling my Ubisoft Indiana Jones but its one of the only NES rares I ever found for dirt cheap in the modern days so I felt compelled to flip it after a year. I'm also a little sad I sold my Nelsonic Donkey Kong watch a few years ago, I still remember saving up the UPCs from boxes of Peanut Butter Capn Crunch to mail away for it back in 1994, and taking it to my day care when I first got it and everyone being obsessed with it.
  • Still have all my childhood games, don't know why I keep them since they're not in great condition but they're staying for now. I do regret avoiding purchasing CIB games. Back then I figured why, when I can get loose stuff for cheaper. Now I only collect CIB

That hurts man. What did you pay when you bought it?
  • Not quite what you're asking but in the 7th grade I traded my boxed Turbografx 16 for a power glove. Bleh
  • In high school I let my buddy borrow the SNES I grew up playing and a handful of the classic games and never got any of it back. He probably sold it for drug money... sigh.
  • Sold my Stadium Events cart for a then record $2500, thinking it couldn't possibly go higher than that. Looking at that one empty slot on my shelf has bugged me ever since. Only thing I regret ever selling.
  • Sold a funny orange zelda cart in like, 1999 or 2000 I think. It was a bit before I had a computer and internet. made $75 off it, which was awesome.
  • Any game that I kept from my childhood where I didn't keep the box, which was most of them. I actually kept most of my childhood games though.

Not sure if this counts, but I didn't buy a Little Samson for $100 once because of some slight damage to the plastic shell. That is probably one of my biggest regrets.

Otherwise, non video game related but when I did let my mom give away was almost all my Ninja Turtles and Power Rangers. sigh... wish I still had them.
  • My brother and I sold our new/unused DK64 N64 controller on eBay a couple years ago. We were the original owners. The new owner immediately removed the bag and tie, then started using it. By now it's probably just another worn-out N64 controller.
  • Non Nintendo but my damn Vectrex. Miss that thing so much

    With the games too?

  • For about three years when we first got married, my wife and I lived in a small trailer and had a lot of stuff in storage. During this period I came to the realization that I had somehow thrown out my Nintendo Power issues form when I was a kid. I had the first 60 or so issues. But, happy ending twist!: When we finally built our house and moved in I found them all inside an old cedar chest, along with some NES and SNES game boxes that I had forgot that I had! Best day ever.

Not anything good...Keith Courage and a first person dungeon crawler that I Cantu remember the name of. I probably would have kept it had I had good games for it.
  • A certain Game Boy sign. Technically i didn't let it go but this cockrider on Ebay got offended by a question i had (whether a previous offer he claimed he had for it was not good) so he never responded anymore. When i tried a new higher bid apparently i was blocked from his auction...
  • Chrono trigger Beta Cartridge.

I literally get sick thinking about it. Haven't seen another since i sold mine 2 years ago and it was CIB.
