I know it's never going to happen, but I would kill for HD CD-i Zelda cutscenes.

Or, should I say: Mah Boi! HD CD-i cutscenes are what all true warriors strive for!

Me too, I wish I had the time or I'd do it myself. lol

I know you are joking, but people would line up to buy that shit if Nintendo would sell it.  I think it would be a lot like the Night Trap HD remake, but times 10.

I'd be in that line for sure.

  • I'd love a 3D remake of Link's Awakening. It's probably Skyward Sword though.
  • The only answer to me without seeing the poll yet would be Zelda 2 for both. The game was very unique but also in some ways crude, yet people love it or love to hate it and look back upon it and still revisit it. There's a lot there they could do to retain the game but make it a bit more approachable without ruining it, like adding hearts as drops along with the random rare XP bag but have them also be uncommon too when it is done. I think a modernized map system overworld but also in dungeons would do wonders. Put that in with just a general modern overhaul of the audio and visuals it could be a fun outing once again without feeling dated horribly like that Metroid 2 remaster on 3DS.
  • I have a good feeling Zelda 2 will be getting the ol remake treatment after seeing what happened with Metroid 2. Fingers crossed.

I'd buy it. I love Zelda II and my appreciation for it has only grown as I've gotten older.

Ah, yes.  Remember the days when on any given console, you could expect at least 2 or 3 games from your favorite series?  Now we are lucky to get one per console.

So, are you saying that Majora's Mask, or Twilight Princess, are not good games? Or that they are not completely new... perhaps? As far as I am concerned they are both awesome, and differ significantly enough from their predecessors to be considered new. But then again, what do I know about Zelda... I actually like Spirit Tracks for God's sake! Lol.

I don't really care for Majora's Mask so I guess I discounted it, but it does feel like a full game, so I could recant some of that statement. What I meant at the time I wrote that, is that it pretty much used the same game engine as OoT. It has somewhat improved graphic capabilities but not drastically different. So I was not considering it a "full game".

Twilight Princess is not a full game for GameCube, IMO, because of the simultaneous release: it is half of a game for GC and half a game for Wii; Crossbow Training is obviously not a full game; Windwaker HD* and Twilight Princess HD are not new games; Hyrule Warriors is... "run over here and do this! Now run over there and do that! Now go there and do this!" just a theme on top of a game that is very little like Zelda at all. While combat is one of the most important elements of the series, fighting crowds of very easy enemies like in the final run down to The Imprisoned in Skyward Sword is boring AF and that's basically how Dark Souls Zelda Edition felt to me for the half hour I gave it.

From the nonstop sidequest that is MM•, to the little kid "treatment" (filmmaking term) of WW•, to the almost on-rails overworld in SS•, to rereleases and remakes*, I'm kind of blown away by how frequently my favorite Nintendo flagship franchise either pisses me off or just fails to impress. And overall, I wish they would put their resources into another new full game for Switch instead of anothernothernother remake.

    * Nintendo specifically bragged in 2002 that the cel-shading technique of Windwaker meant the game would always look good, even when technology improves in the future. Sooooo it needed to be put in HD, why?

•Maybe I have found the pattern! MM, WW, SS... I should just avoid any Zelda game that abbreviates as a double letter!
  • Zelda 2 would be great. Skyward Sword would be great (fix the horrid control), Minish Cap would be great, Zelda Badlands would be great (I know, I know)...

    Just NOT another Ocarina :/
