Yeah, that's how it was on PS4 as well. When you select Multiplayer there you had to load a completely separate thing that took a couple minutes. You did that whenever you switched back and forth. I'm assuming it will be the same thing on Switch. You'll have Single Player ready to go but your first time doing MP you'll have to do an install. And my next assumption is that it will be stored on the Switch but only accessible if the cart is in the console. It will probably be loading some assets from the cart so it won't be a full install of a game. But, again, assumptions.
Edit: And, as an aside, those who haven't played the new Doom are really in for a treat with the soundtrack. It's fantastic.
I admittedly only played the beta when it was released on the XB1. But I never got around to buying it. I'm really excited to see how it turns out! The only issue I'm worried about is not having a large player base.
Honestly, the MP wasn't that great. It's old school Quake 3 Arena type stuff. Well, I guess if that's your thing it's a blast. I knew people that enjoyed it a lot but I only casually played... which means I couldn't do shit against all the people who play shooters online. There will probably be a decent amount of people on it. MP on the go like that is a pretty big incentive for a lot of people.
Personally, I'll mainly stick to single player. Though, 2 more months of free online is something I shouldn't pass up (even though I'll start paying the subscription as soon as it launches).
I can really see MP taking off for the fact that you just said. It's going to be mobile. It will be really interesting to see how this will play out. I'm a fan of shooters, but I didn't really stick around in the beta for the fact that everything was locked. I'm big on collecting various sets and guns in any shooter, so i'm hoping that alone, will keep me around in the MP aspect. As far as single player goes, I'm sure I'm going to have a blast.

As far as I remember, all the gun sets were available and you didn't have to gain levels to access them. I could be remembering incorrectly. One of the things I wasn't a fan of was that you had set loadouts and you couldn't choose each individual thing you want (kind of like in Splatoon if you play that). Though, I vaguely think that changed? I haven't played Doom's MP since the first couple months of launch.
But yeah, I'm generally on playing MP with NA people when games launch so I'm sure I'll be around a little bit for it.
Ah, makes sense! As long as there's progression, that's what matters to me with MP. I remember folks unlocking gear, I just don't remember how they did it, maybe just by leveling up? I'll surely be online a lot more with others playing from NA!

Yeah it does seem like they keep pushing Rime back. It gets annoying after a while. The game looks really good so I'll be getting that day 1.

Went to my local walmart and they didn't have doom out yet. They did have the batman telltale though? Thought that was next week
Walmart are ahead of the curve. I have Batman pre-ordered from Amazon and they can't even give me an estimated delivery date yet.
