Well, that brings up another point. It's not like this is some new console and the only way to play certain exclusive games. With the exception of StarFox 2 (and even that's been hacked now), all these games are freely available. This is of interest if you're 1) wanting a nostalgia trinket, 2) collect Nintendo, or 3) never heard of emulators. I get it, but it's not like this should be something to lose your mind over.

100% agree! Just wanted to explain that the struggle is real for some parts of the country. Crackas be needin' our video game fix yo!

About 90 minutes - just under 2 hours depending on traffic. I'm not driving more than 30-45 minutes out to find one though. There's plenty of Gamestops, Target, Walmarts, and Best Buys within 30 minutes of me.

  • Toys R Us? They're supposed to stock them, too.

I have always been able to either walk in a store, pre-order online, or simply order online normally in the first week of release. Maybe I've just had good luck my entire life? IMO it speaks volumes as to how the "other guys" do business compared to Nintendo. For example, I've never had to put myself on a waiting list for anything from Sony so I'm not going to start with Nintendo. That being said, if I find multiple SNES Classics on a shelf somewhere I will buy more than one to help someone out here.

I take it you didn't pick up a PS3 when they launched and only shipped 200,000 consoles the first month or so. I forget how long it took for them to come in numbers, but they were damn scarce at launch and scalpers were selling for upwards of $1200 on the Bay (and a few sold for that amount.) If you got one, yes, you're lucky. The rest of us had to wait.

Xbox 360 also had limited supply at launch.  I remember buying one on eBay for $850 back in 05 since they were sold out everywhere.  I was one of the first people to have one of my friends, but I paid up for it like a moron.

  • Yeah, I couldn't remember the 360 launch, but I thought it was similar. The Wii was also scarce on two consecutive Christmases. In fact, I remember the second Christmas it was worse. You'd think they would ramp up production on a console out for over a year.
  • Double post.   What is with this board today?

I drive by Reading a couple times a month. I'll have to check that store out next time I'm in the area.
  • Best buy was restocked yesterday as well.
  • Crapload came in today in our Best Buy. I do not think that they are being held for Black Friday so go in tomorrow and ask!
  • I'm still trying to get my hands on one. Stores here seem to be selling out <30 min after they show up on the online trackers.
  • For these orders, you cannot get them online. As I work at Best Buy, I do my best to keep you guys informed of when they come in. Show up tomorrow when they open and ask if they have any. To make it easier, here's the BBY SKU: 5919830. Just have any sales associate look it up.
  • I noticed that a lot of the people who had them on CL since launch day for $130 - $160 have taken down their listings in the last week or two since there's been sufficient supply in my city over the last month.

One guy had 9(?!) by October 1. Wonder what he ended up doing with them.

    :feelsgoodman:
  • Its down right laughable how many are for sale locally on OfferUp app right now.

If i search "snes" i can flick my thumb down 7 times really fast and its nothing but snes classic listings. Lol!
  • Well there are still some dim bulbs out there who don't realize they're not that scarce, and others who are just impatient wanting instant gratification or are downright lazy. But even in that realm of asking for it, the prices aren't much over retail anymore if they want to move. So many scalpers hopes being dashed. Aww.

My local Best Buy had mountains PS4 / XBOX bundles and even a tower of Nintendo Switch systems. Didn't see SNES CE though. Do you know if your store actually put them out?

They do sometimes when it's not hectic in the warehouse (like at this time of the year). But they will most likely be cased up if they are put out. Depending on the store, they may be locked up in cages behind checkout.

still waiting on GS to ship mine, where did you find it at?
  • Is there something special about the case?

Or is it just that it's an official item?
  • It's kinda slick looking.

There seem to be a wide array of similarly slick looking cases out there.

Just wondering what was special here.

I imagine it's that it's official. That Nintendo logo goes a long way for a lot of people.
  • Are the other cases specifically made for the console? Meaning shaped inside to hold it, the cables and controllers? I haven't really looked at the alternatives.

But, yeah, the Nintendo brand and SNES logo probably appeal to people.

A quick search on Amazon showed probably a half dozen specifically designed cases.

  • Well I guess it goes to show, if you build it, they will knock it off.

Copy is probably a more fair term.

  • But ... Nintendo.

I'm not faulting a collector for wanting the "official" case.

  • It probably isn't beyond the logo. I just thought it looks pretty good.

But let's be honest, the thing could have no room for cables and controllers and fall apart if you looked at it funny and collectors would still riot to get one for the shelf.
