Very strange. I must have the odd man out system. Well, I still use analog on my system as well, so it's not like it's hurting anything to be there.

Yeah. I'm considering the mod for mine, but I'll probably wait until I have an actual Famicom game that uses it.

Agreed, i'm not too worried about that sound mod since I don't have any Famicom games that use it.

  • Savagery is being a bit extreme but gutting a Gyromite is a really dumb idea now. I just don't get the drama over it being like personally offended.
  • I ordered the Hyperkin yesterday from Amazon and it got delivered today, wow talk about fast delivery service.

Dicing up John Elway's Quarterback is one thing but this is just cruel

just buy a converter with a ribbon so you can get it out of your frontloader properly

Gyromite is like $1 everywhere. It's one of the most worthless games you find at the flea market. There are FAR more copies of this game around than ROB the robot, and it's useless without the robot. The Gyromite carts with the adapter inside are less common, but I've encountered  several in the wild (and encountered them WAY more often than ROB the robot).

I 3D-printed a shell for my Gyromite adapter. I can put the adapter back inside the Gyromite cart shell at any time. I'm an obsessive compulsive hoarder. That's the only reason.

that's fine, just don't cut the thing in half

Copies that have the converter are from the launch window where demand outstripped supply and Nintendo had to come up with something fast, so I think they have some degree of historical worth

Also, I'm kinda bitter about how many people did this to Stack-Up because we knew it was the only game with an always-guaranteed converter and now it's certainly not $1 anymore

for the love of god can we agree not to hurt anymore Stack-Ups

  • Only if Stack Up agrees not to hurt anyone anymore with its intended gameplay qualities.

    Yikes!

  • I have a cut-in-half Gyromite converter but it was already that way when I bought it.

By purchasing that mutilated Gyromite, you have (unwittingly?) financed and encouraged retro genocide / terrorism. How do you feel about that?

Pretty good actually, thanks for asking!

There's only a small chance that my purchase would have encouraged the seller to make any more of them.  Plus I don't have to destroy another one on my own if I had really wanted to.
