Another snes system question

I having problem with the snes system there is no audio and video. I'm wondering does the red led light normally come on when you turn the system on. Also,I have  av cable from the gamecube system plug into the snes system.

    Of course the light comes on when you turn the system on, if it doesnt, then perhaps your power plug isnt working, and thus no sound or video.

    The cord from the GC will work with the SNES also.
