Raiders is an all-time great. The other two had their moments, but neither really came close for me. My second favorite Indiana Jones movie would probably be The Mummy ('99). Skull doesn't even exist in my universe. Refused to watch it.
Raiders with Last Crusade not far behind. The only thing Crystal Skulls did right was the tributes to Henry Sr and Brody, more thought went into that than the rest of the film.
Toss up but put Last Crusade. I really honestly cant say there is a bad one among any of them, it just takes a deeper understanding of the movies and what they were trying to do spoofing both mythology but the trends of the decades they were shot for. I'm not really sure I even have a least favorite that really stands out either but it would have to be #2 or #4 given the other two are a toss up for best.
Hard to say loved all of them. I would say Last Crucade has the best storyline and characters especially the dad and son duo; that was so wonderful and enjoyable to watch. Fuck it, time to watch it tonight!
I went with Last Crusade because the Sean Connery/Harrison Ford duo is just perfection. Raiders is a close second, with Doom coming in third. I like all three a lot, and I quote random snippets from them all the time.
I voted for Last Crusade. Really the first 3 are like to me are like 1: 1A: 1B: and I don't really care too much about the order. Skull is only 4th because there isn't an option for it to be lower. I would have Young Indiana Jones Series ahead of Skull easily.

Personally, I prefer Raiders as the much "grittier" movie.
Raiders was my vote and Last Crusade would be my second place pick. When I was a kid it was the opposite - Last Crusade was my favorite and Raiders my 2nd favorite.

Crystal Skull gets alot of crap but before then my last Indy experience was when I was 14 years old with Last Crusade. I think that plays alot into it. It was a different time. No internet and hype etc.
I'll bite why I said I like crystal skull. I'm old enough I caught Last Crusade in the movies when it came out but not the other two.
It's right in there as my favorite character for a movie just to start with it. I've seen them all a lot, obviously not the recent one as much though due to age alone. I've hit the point now where when I see them I don't take them at stupid points or face value, but the underlying meaning with the films and what they were all trying to do which if you think about it is, spoofing the decade they were placed in. All of the old original three movies were shot in the 1930s during the rise of the third reich yet before the war. So obviously you had your bad guys with the nazis, and their crazy highest ups aside from being genocidal were also religious and mysticism fanatics after all sorts of power relics which fits the arc and the grail. The style of brawling, camera angles, mannerisms they all played to that style of media then in film, books, comics which was film noir. So with the old your decade bad guy is that, your power item (mcguffin) were those items, and the style it was shot based on media from that decade too it all fits. Crystal Skull was shot for the 1950s. What was the notable stuff then? Your bad guys were the commies and atomic death, your media of the era was 1950s b-tier or less quality campy scifi along with the whole biker greasers vs jocks thing (like in 1980s Happy Days on tv) and your weird power item again like in ToD another glowing stone, in this case a skull which has so called powers tying back to the alien 1950s movie riff. If you take it into that context, ride with the unbelievable and implausible stuff in that (which all of them have plenty of), and enjoy Indy being a testy old fart with some fire left in him it's pretty solid. The only part that sucks was Mutt as he's annoying, much like whiny Willie in ToD was too where you'd wish either of them would just shut up or get eaten up by something.
I'm not saying anything new here though I've seen these arguments brought up by people for years on movie sites and other spaces since it came out and it does make sense.
I can't put Skull at #1 or #2, but to me Indy's biggest item was christian relics and foil were the nazis. Both #2 and #4 lack those and are the odd films out. I really do care for Temple of Doom, but I can't with all honesty 100% say I think it's better than Crystal Skull either being objective about it and pulling the nostalgia beer googles off.

Temple of Doom
Last Crusade
Crystal Skull
Raiders, by far.
This was going to be my exact phrasing until I saw you'd already posted it lol.
For those of you voting Crystal Skull, I want to hear some justification. Step up, ya anonymous bastards.
Maybe it was their first Indiana Jones movie they saw in theaters and they saw it as kids rather than as adults.

I don't doubt that some people like Crystal Skull, but the thread is which one is best. Can anyone justify that?
There were people that liked Yugos. PT Barnum probably had this type of behaviour covered somewhere.........

Even with it being a subjective question. It is very hard to get on board with putting Skull at the numero uno position. :-)
Someone voted Crystal Skull?
5 votes!! We have some rebels in our midst!! :-)

I'd be fine with people liking Yugos. But rating them over even a Toyota Corolla...
