Any recourse available against ebay sellers who pull shenanigans?

Well, last night I bought this lot:

This morning, I get an email from the lady saying that she meant to put the Buy It Now at 99.99, and there was no way she could let the item go for what it sold for (39.99).

I know there's several occurrences of this happening to other NA members; I just wondered if there's any recourse that ebay themselves could/would take?   Like having her lose her precious "Power Seller" status?

If the buyer is entering into a legal binding contract when bidding, then dammit, the seller should be too.

  • Buyers can back out just as easily, with few ramifications, if any.
  • Tell her you're going to have to leave negative feedback. That MIGHT make her reconsider. And actually leave negative if she doesn't sell. It's not like the lot was worth $200 and you got it for $20 or even $2. That would be a legit mistake. I don't know how you mix a 39 with a 99.
  • I was thinking the same thing. Had I bought the lot for 9.99, I could see that being an error.
  • I would assume, someone messaged her for a side offer. There is no way your trying to type 99, and you hit a 3 by mistake, but still manage to hit the other 9, and hit it only once.

I sent the user a message. Hope someone else does the same.
  • forward the email to ebay. they may suspend them. that's total bait and switch.
  • The same thing happened to me once...The seller had a lot of 8-9 CIB games...some really nice titles too...it had a BIN of $49.99. I swopped on it quick. and paid immediately. I got a refund from the seller, saying it was supposed to be $99.99. Pissed. I didn't do anything because I've heard EBAY always sides with the sellers.
  • Well, nobody side offered her, because here's the freakin' lot again:

I'm trying to find an email address of someone at ebay that I can forward her email to.

And even worse, it won't let me neg her for 7 days because she's a power seller.

  • Bid .99 cents and ruin her BIN. image

Or bid 39.99 because it would be awesome if you won it again for the same freaking price.
  • Well with no photo it is going to be a hard sell
  • someone should place a bid so seller can not update with a picture image
  • we should have an Ebay Black Ball list. That way we can check it before we place any bids. I know I would use something like that. I wouldn't buy from somebody that has screwed over one of my NA brothers or sisters.
  • ^ Hall of Shame.

Why hasn't anybody bid yet. I can't being from Canada. I'll try again logged under ebay.com rather than ebay.ca
  • Hhahaha, it worked. I bet it doesn't even hit $39.99. If I win for a buck though they'll probably make me pay $50 to ship to Canada image
  • Well, it let me leave her a negative (finally), and her precious little auction only ended up at 46.77.

Well I hope the extra 6.78 was worth it for her. How about dsr's what did you leave for those?
  • I didn't fill those out since she didn't ship anything (probably should have given her 1 star on the ones that I could have; didn't think about that one).
  • Ya I watched that end. haha, I kinda hoped it would go for even less though lol.
