Will the 3DS remakes of Ocarina of time and Majora's Mask qualify for the Zelda award or is it strictly the N64 games for that one?
I still need Majoras Mask on N64 and Oracle of Ages to have them all, but I have a feeling I'll be getting Oracle of Ages for Christmas.
I believe it must be the originals, you may use ports as extras though
This is the case as I understand it. I believe this is the case across the board now. Remakes are no longer required (as far as I can see), and only the original release of each title is needed. Remakes can be used as extras, but not as substitutes.

Why are Animal Crossing: New Leaf and New Leaf - Welcome Amiibo counted as two separate games?
I'm just curious because I received it as a free update for my New Leaf game, and online it is also listed as an update.
The udpated lists contain a lot of duplicate games. Street Fighter now has each version of Street FIghter 2. I asked about Mortal Kombat X vs XL a few posts back too.

Hey there, I figured since I did a lot of the list I should pop in and at least explain the mentality behind some of the additions, as I definitely see many sides of the argument. I guess in my mind, the series is so entrenched in having its new entries be new versions that it is a very important staple to it, along with other fighting series. The idea was to try and be consistent with the logic on each series but it's not always easy, such as a series like Tetris. It's a game that often doesn't change much between versions yet is required to own on various platforms for an award.
My understanding for these awards is they shouldn't really be simple to achieve, even with the addition of the 2017/2018 Street Fighter entries there are less than 30 entries in a series running nearly 30 years. When discussing this particular series, it has a reputation for being far more daunting than it really is, a common sentiment among people is that there are something like 100 unique versions of these spread across many systems, but when you narrow it down to unique versions it's not as daunting as it might seem. It's also a relatively inexpensive series to buy for, so I didn't assume it would be overly offensive.
With that being said, anything I add or change is something subject to be changed by the admin/moderator level users, I just have a pretty vast collection and array of series information due to my research and felt I could lend a hand. What's very hard for some users is very simple to me since I already did all the research and work for my own purposes. I do hope most of the stuff added is agreeable to the users though, i've been away due to a move and am just now settling in, so hoping to be around more.
Well in the context of the award, you'd only need 6 games, but I do agree it and many other series should have awards, but I guess they want to keep it to a annual vote of sorts. Me personally I would love the Shin Megami and Ghost N Goblins series to be added due to how complex and varied their release list is. For Ghost N Goblins you have various entries in the original series, the gargoyles quest series (containing 3 titles) as well as the Maximo series. For Shin Megami, you have all of the below plus some coming out soon:
Jack Bros. (1995, VB)
Revelations Series: Persona (1997, PS1)
Revelations: The Demon Slayer (1999, GBC)
Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (2000, PS1)

Thanks. Also I have a question about the 25+ reproductions award. Does that include homebrew/romhack carts?
I believe you're referring to the 25+ Homebrew award (there is no reproductions award)?
I believe it refers strictly to homebrews and romhacks, basically anything that is not a straight up reproduction (such as, say, a $25 Earthbound cart repro from China).
So like, I think a Super Mario Christmas hack cart would count, for instance. Make sense?
I'd have to confirm with a mod just to be sure.
Homebrew= brand new IP, or a ground up remade port (larry on NES for example)
rom hack= reproduction (modifying existing code)
I will look into why the 25+ homebrew award isnt there anymore, I could have sworn we used to have it.
question, is Resident Evil: Deadly silence required for the RE award, its a remake of one, but like the NGC remake(which is required), it has features exclusive to it.

Sorry if this has been asked a million times, but could someone clarify what exactly counts as a pirate cart vs repro cart?
Its open to interpretation, but generally pirates are considered more “bootleg” style, illegal copies made during the consoles lifespan including multi-carts (ie. “150 in 1” )
Reproductions are usually “newer” style copies, generally made from hacks, translations and games not released in said repro’s region.
Repros are technically pirates if you consider any un-authorized copy a pirate so there is no definite answer.
For the sake of awards, consider pirates un-authorized copies of a game that came out during the consoles lifetime.
