Random game showed up on my PS4

Spooky story time. Came home after work to find out that a game called "Let it Die" was downloaded onto my PS4 library eating up about 50GB of data. I think it's a free game, but don't remember downloading it at all. I haven't been on the network in a while, and the only thing I've downloaded when I was on it was Dead or Alive 5 stuff. I've just now deleted "Let it Die" cuz I'm freaking out. haha

I do have featured content turned off, so it's not the whole "Destiny 2" thing that's going around, this wasn't a link either, but the full fledged game. I checked my purchace history since even with free games, you get a receipt in your email... but nothing. Nothing except the DOA5 stuff.

Sooooo... Nobody can go into my room, my door's always locked, and there's no kids running around using the system. How did that game get there? Hax? Glitch? Secret spy ninjas? Friendly neighborhood stranger doing a file share? (Wouldn't a receipt follow with that? I dunno, I never used any share feature)

Dunno, but I'm probably gonna be fixing some passwords soon. I would contact Sony, but they're pretty difficult to get a hold onto since their support forum is always bogged up and they don't seem to have a way contacting via email system. :\ Gee, wiz man.

Comments

  • Gift? Though there should at least be a note or something.
  • Nope, no note. I was gonna deduce that I blacked out or something and downloaded it, but then there would've been a receipt.
  • Not sure how, but it's shady as hell.

On that note, I do suggest enabling two factor authentication. I've had my PSN hacked once before without it and it can be quite scary suddenly having $500 charged to your credit card for Fifa coins.
  • This sounds like a creepypasta waiting to be written. Especially with that name.
  • Okay, extra security is added...

... now all I need is help from Scooby and the gang...
  • You didn't play the game?

Well, I was at least brave enough to try, however it said I didn't have enough memory to play the game (which was true, the dern thing ate up about 50+ gigs.)

Okay for a visual, here's the remnants of what I've downloaded (Even though 'Let it Die' I've never downloaded) a.k.a. the console's purchase history. The ones with the downpointing arrows are ones I deleted.

Here's my only recent purchase history from my email. My Sony account matches these:

So yeah. Creepypasta territory for sure.

  • Let It Die was free from PSN (EDIT: for PS+ members) a few months back. Not too bad of a game, Rouge-like 3D Beat em up thing with a sense of humor.
  • Never owned PS+, but I did some digging and found something, but it's still all strange.

Found out a date and history of WHEN it was purchased-- it was back in August. Found a receipt for it for $0.00.

So it was a free thing for PS+ members, but I couldn't of downloaded it if I wasn't a PS+ member to begin with and it wasn't on my HDD until recently.

Maybe I did black-out and downloaded a game? Still don't add up right...

      ?
  • With psn you can add any free games to your library without actually downloading them. It's possible you did that back in August then accidentally clicked to download all files or download that specific game without knowing you did while going thru menus and whatnot.
  • I've and a couple games pop up into my "libary" as of late and pretty sure I didn't purchase them but in turn I wasn't charged for them eithet "Tricky Towers" and "Rebel Galaxy" which I did buy a month of psn to get some hefty discount on some games like Bastion, Transistor, Xenoraid, and PixelJunk Shooter, Hotline Miami 1&2, but those other 2 I didn't and cannot find anything they where included in a purchase like a bundle or free for being on PSN (as usually you have to physically select the free ones if you want them) I'm all for free but shit there should be some sort of notice ya know like "hey, we love you here's some random free shit for your consideration" or something.

Those were both free PS+ games in August 2016. So you must've had it back then, and now when you buy another month those games are once again accessible.

  • Also, Let it Die has always been a free game.

    Huh...

Well, everything's coming together now... it just means that I have some sort of anterograde amnesia. lol

Which is scary as my best friend said that I've watched Antman with him, and I swore up and down that I've never seen that movie in my life. :\

  • Cut back on the hooch, man.
  • I'm thinking it was a fun night of kicking back a lotta brews followed by a morning of headache...further followed by a WTF is this new game on my account?
