The $100,000 bounty

I posted in the Contra cover thread that I'd pay $45,000 for the original art to the Contra/Gryzor cover.

I've been thinking more about that and really I'd pay as much as I could come up with.    To that end I am offering the first (?) $100,000 bounty:   for the original art to the Contra cover.

Details including payment timing would have to be mutually agreed and the condition of the art would have to be acceptable, etc.    Some element of time payment would be needed, but I'd love to make it happen if anyone can supply the art.

    Good luck with that

  • Hey, for a hundred grand, I'd give it my best try.
  • Yeah but art's a lot harder to fake than games   Seems like you could just print something off? Except it has to be 3 dimensional (raised surfaces), much sharper and more detailed than your source document yet matchable to the source document in every way, created on vintage illustration board (not paper), consistent with the particular artist's working methods, and you can't say you found it at a garage sale... provenance/ownership can almost always be traced.   So... good luck
  • Has anyone tried to pass off a fake yet?
  • This now makes me want to know what is the most anyone has paid for any collectible piece of gaming memorabilia?

$100k, though... man. I imagine if this request went to the right channels to make it viral, that piece of art would show up.
  • let me get my brushes.

Unless it's sitting in Konami's offices.

But then again, given how they're fairing lately, they might need the $100 grand.

Yeah, I actually had that thought.  I could see it going like this around a water cooler.

Office Worker: Yeah, there is some guy online looking for our Contra art... he's willing to pay a small load.

Archival Manager: *shakes head.* Not gonna happen.  How much is he willing to pay?

Office Worker: Can you believe it! $100k.

Archival Manager: Jeez... *walks away slowly to the CEO to tell him a quick way they may make a ton of money...*

  • Hopefully you are posting this bounty other places as well for more exposure.
  • I am offering $1000 bounty for Bronty's house keys! Does not need to be in mint condition, just as long as the key opens the door!

You know, I almost went there but if someone is willing to spend that kind of cash on something gams related, I’d rather be on their good side.  These are the types of people with connections I may some day need.

I'll tell you this much, Konami doesn't have it.
  • Lol, like Konami wouldn't be the first place you'd check.

I thought most of the konami stuff is gone?
  • Living in Ohio I've never seen anything on the level of this cool. We did get a gold nwc cart this year tho.
