Easy no for me, I had fun collecting them and they don't take up a lot of space. I'm sure I'll play through more of them eventually as well, besides the 5-6 I really spent time with during the systems lifespan.
Keeping my entire set. 160 disc based games don't take THAT much room and trying to sell would be even more of a nightmare than usual since 90%+ of the games are worth less than $20-$30. I find it strange that so many people are thinking about ditching their sets... Did you really think you were gonna play some of these games in the first place? The Switch will be much more expensive to collect for, especially going for a full set. Maybe just caught in the hype? Anyway, no regrets here with exception to amiibos
I can store my entire ~160 game set with the Nintendo boxed sets all in 1 half-sized IKEA Billy bookcase. The only thing I waffle on is if I want to keep all of the variants of those damn Skylanders/Guitar Hero sets. Those take up so much more room compared to the actual set.
Besides money, that was also a big factor for me in collecting the basic sets or even just the disc/jewel case. I was tempted to get the Mario Party variants with the different amiibos, but even that was more room (and money) that I was willing to sacrifice. I also still can't believe once you snap the guitar together from World Tour that you cannot undo it, so it will never go back in the box. Not that would of changed things because I was going to play the game regardless.
I happy threw out my Guitar Hero Live box. Some things will have enough collectible value for the space they take up to me. I did play the game though.
I have a feeling most people are thinking "No" now because the set is too recent. Give it a few months, years and I could see a lot of people dumping full Wii U sets because of "changing interests" or room. Sure it doesn't take up a lot of space but if you can get its worth in cash towards your other collecting wants, then people may do it.
I only collected the games I played so I won't sell, but I also know that I likely will never turn on my Wii U again, ever. The switch has made it entirely obsolete. Not to mention my touchscreen pad was having calibration issues... I had to recalibrate it nearly every time I played and even then it would crash sometimes in mid play. If they got reliability issues down the road it'll be even less desirable than it already is.
I'm keeping my collection but I also didn't go for a complete set because of all the shit that's in it. I really only went for first party games and interesting/notable third party games. There's maybe a handful more games I want to get. I really don't think this set is going to be that desirable in the future, in part because of the Switch, partially because the Wii U now has homebrew and doesn't require discs (afaik), because of the console itself (I see the gamepad being a problem down the road, it's the reason I picked up an extra Wii U when my friend sold his), and because the emulator is already coming along nicely. What will draw people in is it's small set size and maybe the niche appeal factor of it being a failure for Nintendo. But we've also seen sets like the Virtual Boy that never really caught on either that meet the same criteria. I think it's going to be comparable to the Wii in terms of desirability. Definitely a much smaller set so it might be more appealing to completionists, but not something the vast majority of people are going to want to go for a full set on.
I agree that there will be less desire in the future for the system especially with the Switch eclipsing it in almost every way. Most of the people looking to collect the set probably did so already and I don't think I see this spiking down the road. Most of the games I thought would peak already have and are on the way down or steady.

one beef i have which i know is not possible to change is that you cant use the switch as a handheld while also the tv. Breath of the wild was incredible for the wii u as you could look at shit on your gamepad while playing on a tv.

When did this become a thing?
haha sorry by shit i mean the maps and your inventory without have to pull it up on the main screen
That's what I'm asking. When did this become a thing? In 200 hours of BOTW game time, I never had both screens on at the same time. It was one or the other for me, unless some type of update recently has changed that.

I would love to see a video of this.
ha like you want me to tape myself playing breath of the wild on wii u? As in you cant believe this is real? Im not trying to be a smart ass at all, are you thinking it cant be done?
I think it was talked about at length when the game first came out about how cool this feature was for the wii u, i cant be the only one on here that played it like this for the wii u

I didn't say all of that. All I said was that I would love to see a video of it.
I also was under the impression the Wii U didn't have any second screen features. I played it on Wii U before I played it on Switch and I don't remember that. I just remember you could either play it on the Wii U gamepad or on the TV. There were no second screen map or inventory control. Here is a video of that:

oh ha sorry man i wasnt sure if you were doubting its possible or what? do you have a wii u to check it out yourself? if so i would highly recommend. I think it was one of the best uses of the gamepad in the wii u short lifetime

When you get a chance, look up The Mandela Effect. You might find it interesting if you haven't heard of it before.
For the record, what you describe is exactly what we all WANTED out of the Wii U port of BOTW, but Nintendo would NEVER add a feature on the Wii U version that might make it superior to the Switch version.
Nintendo couldn't kill the Wii U quick enough. Honestly, I feel we were lucky to even get a port of BOTW on Wii U at all.
Originally it was supposed to be like that with the game pad being your sheika slate or whatever. They removed that to make it work with the switch. Still kinda bummed about that
It was Wind Waker HD and yes it was great! It was an absolute shame that Nintendo removed it from the Wii U for BoTW and then openly lied about why they did it.
I am just confused about people ditching their whole set because of the games being redone for the Switch. I didn't sell OoT or a bunch of my NES/SNES games when they were relased for GC or GBA respectively.
jeff and pete thank you! that's what it was! I was worried I need to check myself into a home.......probably still do but yes it was windwaker. I remember on botw I would switch back and forth between the game pad and tv so I could touch the tower or the item instead of having to scroll on the main screen with the location but maybe im not even remembering that correctly.
ahhhhhh wind waker hd what a classic. this thread is making me miss the wii u. I have neglected it badly the last few months.
That sale has been around for a while and everything good sold out rather quickly. Maybe some people will have luck with availability in their local Targets, but I doubt it.

The games I'm still looking to ad:
Game & Wario
Sonic Lost World
Black Ops II
Darksiders II
Monster Hunter 3
Sonic All Stars Racing
007 Legends
Epic Mickey 2
Rabbids Land
