  • ^^^ lololololol
  • Got billed through ebay/paypal for postage adjustment today.

I shipped some board game cards. They weighed exactly 15.9 ounces. Got lucky. Post office billed me an extra 4.53 claiming wrong service used first class and they shipped priority. I posted these before the rate hike and sold the day after. Paid 4.94 to ship an 8 dollar package. I now lost money selling it

It wasnt a package weight issue because that wasnt stated as the reason. It was stated wrong service. Only thing i can think of is the machine thought my ebay white padded poly mailer was a priority mailer.

This sucks. This system is going to bill falsely so many people
  • That sucks, about as much as an OCD collector who gets upset about the slightest thing they didn't ask about or see in a big picture posted up there.

He must've seen my name and address from the return label. What do you think is going through his mind???

I've already blocked him as a buyer and reported harassment through ebay as well, mostly just because since he has my home address, if he actually came to my house, when I called the cops I'd be able to say that i blocked him before. Why are people so weird?

That is super creepy. Are you actually a teacher or is he just assuming because you're selling a book that you're a teacher? (lol)

If you are a teacher then I am a little worried how he would know that.

No lol. I have my used textbooks for sale since I'm no longer taking those classes. I'm a student, which makes this even weirder because I'm only 20, and he's being super weird

  • Well my perfect eBay feedback streak ends at 642. Gotta love using the cheapest shipping in the listing, and then having someone in Hawaii complain it took awhile to get there

Did the buyer give you a negative? If so I would say call Ebay and appeal it.
  • LMAO. just got a return request. A storage bag. Return says

"There is marker all over it. Not in description. Not paying to return. Need a label please""

Lets see. My third picture is clearly showing it. In my description summary right under the title and in the main description. Says it twice on the listing

"Storage Case Only, Spot on the back is someone wrote on it and tried remove the writing"

This return shit on ebay is out of control. Ebay is so concerned with returns its like hello ebay the point is you want your buyer to keep the item. The more you talk about return return returns returns what do you think is going to happen. LOL one of the purchase history default options , I dont know if it still is, was "Return this item". Not communicate with seller, just "RETURN RETURN"

Ebay is losing lots of buyers cause of either glitches on the site or Amazon. They are pushing returns to attract buyers. I agree its getting ridiculous.

Oh, the wait time for eBay right now is ridiculous. 2.25 hours? :/
  • I read somewhere that Paypal was like 11 or 12 on the list of worst customer service over the phone. The top ten was airlines, Bank of America, and Apple.

Maybe im just very fortunate but I always opt for the call back service and doubt i've ever waited for more then 15-20 minutes.

Wow I called them the day before and like Foochie said its was only a 15 minute wait if that. 2 1/2 hours is along wait.

  • Looks like I have another one!

I bought a PS3 off eBay from a seller with very little feedback. Definitely taking a risk here, but figured the guy might just be selling stuff every now and then. So I get the package, and it's something entirely different! Looks like he switched the labels by accident.

So I messaged him, and told me to ship it somewhere without giving me a label. I just went ahead and shipped it myself just to get the ball rolling - didn't feel like complaining about $8.

Then I finally get the PS3 from the other guy, but with like $13 postage due. So now I'm paying an extra $21. Messaged the seller about this and he told me "oh I don't have the money". Jesus... I feel bad because it's an honest mistake but at this point it's total bullshit. Now I need to deal with opening another ebay case...

Being nice has a habit of biting you in the ass sometimes. Next time tell the person they are responsible for their mistake and if you are going to ship it to the correct address for them instead of just returning it to them via an ebay return label, they need to send you the money via paypal first. They are probably young.

At least it is just $21 extra :/

I'm not super worried since I know they're responsible for reimbursing me, but it's just another hassle.

O i feel you man, the headache of dealing with it is a pain. Especially because ebay takes a bit when it comes to claims. I am sure you will get your money back though and hopefully without a hassle.

I just don't understand people though. In what world is that okay to do someone and just expect them to be okay with paying for your mistake?

I guess it's easier to try and get away with it rather than do the right thing :/ sucks to have to pay shipping twice, especially when the margin on the stuff isn't that high, but still...

The seller is honestly really lucky we were both willing to send the stuff back out - the other guy probably could've gotten away with keeping the PS3, and then the seller would be out the money for that as well.
  • So recently I've started to go back to my local goodwill electronics. I had heard some good things from friends about the new pricing. (I used to go 3 times a week, as pricing was more then fair). First trip I find smash for 64 for 12 bucks, solid deal. I go in today, and I found a disc only scratched up copy of metroid other m for 7.99, buried and exposed. The place is large enough to where you could look for a few hours and miss things. So I look at this game case and it looks like someone is playing Tetris, and forming a shield around a random snes game. So of course I gotta know what it is, needless to say it was final fantasy 3 for snes marked at 7.99.. I'm not sure anymore if they are hiding the better stuff or just have no idea how to price. I'm happy with the purchase but the dude behind the counter pretended the game I was pointing at wasn't there. I'd point at it and he would reach on the other side of the case and bust out a bunch of shovel ds ware. There were probably 200 games in that case and the one I wanted to look at was the only one left in the case.

Kinda funny though as there were a few guys that obviously knew what it was worth and saw the price tag and followed me around hoping I'd ditch it lol
  • Last night I saw a game with a BIN of $0.99 with "best offer" as an option. I thought I would offer $0.50 for the game, but when I went to put in my offer, it said that the minimum offer was $0.99. I know we are talking about something that costs less than a dollar, but still.........

I'm probably in a super small minority of their user base but I make my hobby/beer money selling stuff on Ebay, and the slashing of Ebay Bucks combined with the higher shipping costs, lower discounts on top seller rates and the higher requirements mean I get less money. Which means I spend less on Ebay. But I'm probably just howling at the wind here.

This is another way some sellers game ebay's search algorithm.  If you offer certain things your listing will appear higher in search algorithms (taking best offer, free shipping, taking returns, etc).  So what some buyers do is enable best offer but then make the minimum price the same as the buy it now so they appear higher in ebay's search.
