Audio issues with Framemeister, splitter, & HDMI to Component (resolved)
Hey guys - I've got a bit of a complicated setup right now but theoretically it should work. I'm having some trouble getting audio to pass through to my TV though and was hoping someone has experienced this or knows what could be the problem.
Basic rundown of how I'm hooked up: systems -RCA> passive switcher -RCA> framemeister -HDMI> HDMI splitter -HDMI> active HDMI to component switcher -component> WEGA KV-40XBR700 HD CRT TV. The other HDMI goes to an elgato which outputs to a monitor (no audio).
The TV gets a great video signal from the component but no audio. Here are some things I figured out while troubleshooting:

The TV gets a great video signal from the component but no audio. Here are some things I figured out while troubleshooting:
- I was able to convert HDMI to component with my cable box -> a different TV, it had video and audio
- If I plug my RCA audio into the back of the TV it will play audio (from the component's audio channels)
- I can get audio out of the framemeister, it is outputting audio to the other HDMI (I plugged that into a different TV and it worked)
- I have removed the switcher and just plugged RCA directly into the framemeister and still have this problem
- The TV plays audio from other inputs, the speakers are definitely not off, and audio is not muted on neither the framemeister or the TV
- I tried multiple consoles (NES, Genesis, and SNES) and they all have the same problems
- The component cables which are not carrying this sound were the same ones used in #1, so I don't believe the audio cables or breakout from HDMI is the problem...but who knows?

I believe the issue was that the hdmi to component converter changes it into 5.1 surround but my TV can't handle that. I got an HDMI audio stripping box and used that to route the audio directly to the TV and now everything is working. Also worth noting the stripping box I got has 2 settings, 2 channel and 5.1. When I put it on 5.1 the TV doesn't get sound but when it's on 2 channel it does, further leading me to believe that this is the source of the issue.
One last thing to note: when I play mono sound through the box it only plays in one speaker of my TV, but stereo sound properly plays through both (NES vs SNES tested). Here's the link for the box that worked for me.
