Restoring revision 3 famicom.
After av modding my old 83 famicom I just could not stand the ugly yellow which was made worse by stickers that was over it in areas which I had removed and under them it was lighter color. I decided since this is going to be a system I play I may as well go ahead and restore it. I'd read about using vinyl spray so I went to advance auto and picked up a can. It has to be good stuff to stick to vinyl seats and plastic door panels I'm thinking. I removed old stickers & the family computer metal plate because it is peeling and dinged. Now I'm thinking about ordering that decal kit with the silicon button pads for $25 from retroraiderjapan. Seems to be the best option but I don't want to put the metal plate back on so I guess I'm going to have to find something else to put the family computer logo on & place the vinyl sticker on it unless someone is selling the original plates new. I could just about place the vinyle down with no plate but there a fairly large square hole in center as you can see from pics which I think will make the sticker look distorted. Any suggestions or anyone have any knowledge of these kits and the quality I can expect of not only the decals but the new silicon pads? Also I used toothpaste to polish the smooth bottom and smooth dust flap & it does help. I used cottonballs to bull them. Took a bit of elbow grease but looks much better now.

I like the clean shit look of the painted shell, it looks so much nicer than before! I'm afraid I don't have any experience with the vinyl sticker set you mentioned, so not sure on the quality, but good luck with the restoration anyway!
Thanks, this vinyl spray is really good stuff seems like. I've custom painted around 30 consoles in the past few years & always used the rustoleum paint but if I get the results from this dupli-color vinyl spray that I expect as far as durability goes then I'll be using it for basic colors from here on. Color choices is very limited with it is the main problem. Many consoles regular spray paint is durable enough but the famicom has the slide eject mechanism so that will be a good test for this stuff.
