Was Fatal Frame: Maiden of Blackwater ever physically released in the US on the WiiU? Someone on instagram said it was a limited release through the Nintendo store. I don't recall ever hearing anything about it and I have not seen any stories about that.

Nope - just digitally.
Thank you, I didn't think I missed it. Maybe he confused it with a European release
I really wish Fatal Frame got a US release. I was thinking of importing the JP version but since the Wii U is region locked I decided against it.
I added Sing Party to my collection the other day so now I only need Game & Wario for Nintendo published games, and then a handful of random (and cheap for the most part) third party games to finish my want list for the system. I see a lot of them sub-$20 on Amazon but I'm just having a hard time justifying even $15 for some of these games.

Just be patient with some of those $15 games. I bet they will drop eventually. As more and more switch games get ported, the Wii U versions should hopefully become less desirable. I'm still waiting for Skylanders Imaginators and Just Dance 2018 to drop under $15
Limited Run did a Ask Me Anything (AMA) on Reddit yesterday and posted this about the Wii U:
A possible Limited Run Wii U release. I'd surprised if it actually happens, but that would be pretty crazy.
Interesting. I wonder what it could be. I'm really hoping it's an exclusive title that hasn't been released outside of Wii U's eshop (like Fatal Frame in the US or Fast Racing Neo).
Is this confirmed or just a guess? It was my first thought too, but they said the certification for it is what's holding it up, and I imagine it would have already been certified since it was supposed to be released on Wii U months ago but cancelled close to the release.
Honestly i hope it fails... The last thing I want is to be chasing limited run games to keep my set complete, especially for a game that's already released on every other platform.
I'll go one step further: Even if they release it, I would rather not have a full set than give LRG a penny. Their way of doing business is repulsive and I am sickened that it's gotten an audience.
I have mixed feelings. I think at this point the Wii U just needs to die and there's really no reason to release games for the Wii U at this point.
But, if some of these eshop games aren't going to be ported over to the Switch, I would be really happy to have a physical copy of them. We are seeing this happen with the WiiWare shop now, and it's going to happen even sooner to the Wii U than it did to the Wii given its commercial failure. And unlike Wii, I'm not sure how easy it is to play and back up eshop games if you haven't purchased them.
If it's Axiom Verge I probably won't buy it because I already have it on Switch. If it's an eshop game that hasn't been released physically on other systems then I will.

They are bringing physical releases for games, many of which would otherwise be digital only. Nothing wrong with that. But if there is one thing in my life that I've learned, is that people can and will complain about anything.

It's not the bringing physical releases out I have a problem with, of course. As I already said, it's the BS business practices. But obviously everyone is free to do what they want with thier money.

I don't want to derail the thread, but you do have me curious about what is so "repulsive" about their business practices.

I don't want to either, but suffice to say maninpulation of supply and intentional creation of a market bubble, along with several other things.
I actually kinda feel the same. If your gonna release a game, just release it to everyone instead of only producing so many copies. But whatever, if they do that I will likely ignore it unless its a good game that I don't have to fight for.
Honestly i hope it fails... The last thing I want is to be chasing limited run games to keep my set complete, especially for a game that's already released on every other platform.
I agree. Just let the WiiU die. Nintendo is trying harder then they ever have to sell their new console the Switch, there is no reason to release anymore games for the Wii or WiiU.
Why on earth would Nintendo let LRG release Project Zero? Maybe they're just delluded. I do think it's a shame Japan never got a gorgeous console bundle for it - the artwork would have been awesome.
If they really must (and since the system is dead, they are more transparent than ever with this), then I wouldn't mind Kick & Fennick or the Trine games, but I have too much money to spend on editions and/or variants I still need as it is and making sure I have enough set aside for then popping up on ebay is stressful enough as it is. LRG think they're doing fans a service - they can't justify it and I hope it falls flat.
I'm sure there will be a Just Dance 2019. The reason folks don't want new WiiU games is because they have moved on to another console for gaming by now, and if they are collecting they just want to be done.
I would love more quality games (i.e. not Just Dance) as long as they were released in a non-BS way. I'm disappointed we didn't get Fast Racing Neo and Axiom Verge in the U.S. as normal releases. But yeah no more Just Dance please

Same here. I wish Nintendo Europe had done more of the eShop Selects releases. At least they released Fast Racing Neo.
One of my favorite Wii U games, Affordable Space Adventures, is stuck on the eShop forever, and that sucks.

Well you are free to believe what you wish. Regardless, LRG is providing a great service to gamers and collectors.

they said they were doing Fatal Frame forever ago and then nothing ever became of it. That would be sweet.

Do you guys consider the Wii U Lenses Cleaning Kit part of the collection?
The game library? no, its an accessory not a game.
