NES CIB missing controllers

I’ve come across a challenge set with Mario Bro 3 sealed and everything sealed in bags. Box in 9/10 condition. The system was taken out of the bag once but never used and the system is missing the controllers. What should I offer?

    Maybe subtract the value of the controllers from a recent completed sale of a challenge set?

    The tricky part is the fact the thing is brand new. The game hasn’t been opened, the cords are all new in plastic and the system has been taken out but is back in the plastic. The styro foam is all perfect and the box is almost perfect. I had a hard time looking at eBay sales to determine a value.

    If it's that mint, missing controllers should be negligible in the price

    I would strongly disagree with the last post. Here is an auction for a New OEM NES controller ( you may want to bid, lol)

    Backwards engineering, Last sold "Brand New" Challenge set on ebay was for $550. They had to ship it, so take away $25. Subtract off twice whatever that auction goes for. Which I am guessing will finish at around $60-$75 per new controller. I would guess it would be worth $400-$430 with what you are looking at right now. I would use the leverage of the lack of controllers to bring that down and hopefully you can put the work in to get it back to Brand New.

    Never hurts to ask! If he's a friend then he probably wont mind doing you a favour. If your plan is to try and resell it for more, just let him know that first. He'll probably be happy to just get the 300 bucks, without having to worry about dealing with it himself to try and squeeze more money out of it.

    I'm honestly shocked at their prices, haven't ever looked before. Even the games are 30-50% less than my local retro store. Thanks for this tip.
