Picked it up off of ebay earlier this year. The sticker sealed Gyromite game was divvied up with a collector, and I still have the sticker sealed Duck Hunt.
I hope I didn't swap out my system in my non-deluxe deluxe set for a cleaner looking one... I'll have to check the serial. The minty sealed Gyromite is still there though, never to be removed from its original resting place.
Hey Blarky, out of curiosity what the heck are the games it lists in the GamePak Giveaway I see there? 65 seems like an awful lot for them to have been offering back at the NYC launch. If there's a scan of this somewhere already, someone could just point me at that.
My small font reading ability sees this on that back page:
Robot Series Stack-Up ?? Series (doesn't actually look like Light Gun) Wild Gunman Hogan's Alley Sports Series Baseball Golf Soccer Tennis 10-Yard Fight Programmable Series Excitebike Wrecking Crew Action Series Kung Fu Ice Climber CluClu Land Pinball Super Mario Bros.
I've been arguing every once in awhile round these parts that this is the true launch list for what came out in 1985. Note the inclusion of Soccer and the absences of DK Jr Math (already widely held as truth) & Mach Rider. This list matches what I pulled out of the US Copyright database awhile back, and I remember having a spirited debate with Dr. Morbis about Soccer in particular at the time.
At what point do we start to update our database here with the historical evidence we've been digging up and begin to educate the unwashed masses as to what the NES launch titles really were?
I never noticed it said "it's so simple a robot could almost do it" on the Setup poster.
haha
It's not a poster, it's a gigantic book with instructions for the NES, Zapper, and R.O.B. What I want to know is if it was an exclusive to the [non-]Deluxe Set.
Thanks for the pics, blarky. That seems like pretty good evidence that it's the real launch list. They wouldn't be giving away games in March, 1986 that weren't out yet.
And Zapper Series? None of the boxes actually say that, right? Maybe NOA came up with the Zapper name too late in the game to rework the box art.
So if anyone else has one post away I want to see who has the lowest!
I can't believe those two systems could have passed through my hands! Current owners know exactly what I mean... It's crazy, I didn't even notice that "Deluxe Set" was missing on both of these boxes. If knew that I would have bid a TON on your set Blarky, and Bronty would still be searching for a damn Gyromite!

Sorry for resurrecting this thread.
I still can not believe the one I bought sat up there for 40 minutes before we hit the BIN.
It's not easy, but you can tell by how the sticker looks on the cart, and the area surrounding it. It's hard to lift that sticker off without damaging the box and crinkling the sticker a little. I have an untouched Gyromite resting in Deluxe Set hibernation.

Man, that's a nice one Blarky

Here is the entire card. There aren't 65 games, just 65 "items" included in the questionaire. There are only those 15 games listed.

there's a craigslist ad in my area for a rob with box, which appears to be an unlabeled deluxe set box, but no nes unit.

The only way you can tell it's brand is when :
- Both games inside are still sticker sealed
- Controllers and adapters are still twist tied in baggies
- System looks untouched in plastic
- R.O.B and parts are still tightly packed in plastic
- All documentation is still in the baggie
