Would a standard DB15 cable work with the Famicom expansion port?

I'm looking for an extension for my Famicom Vaus controller. Was wondering if a generic DB15 M/F cable would work for that.

No, you would need to modify it as the socket is deeper than a standard one.

I ordered a bunch of these for modding Neo Geo X USB arcade sticks to work with an actual Neo Geo and I got extras for Atari 5200 and Famicom. They are the proper "deep" connector shape and have all 15 wires inside. I recommend the extension cables even if you don't need one end because they are longer and cheaper than the "repair cables" with an unfinished end intended for your controller. A hammer works well if you need to break open one end.
