Nintendo 64, CD64 - Whats it worth?

Haven't seen these around for several years. Just checked ebay and there are a few listed for waaaay more than what I recalled them selling for a few years back. Just wondering, what does the community think these are worth now days? I wouldn't mind finding one for my collection eventually.

  • I have a couple Bung Doctor V64 units that this was meant to compete with but no clue on the value. I see Bung stuff that sits on eBay for years with inflated prices waiting for an offer so that may be what you are seeing here.

The main difference between this and a V64 is that this has a controller operated menu which requires a 6102 boot cart. Since you can't use an appropriate boot cart for non-6102 games, you are stuck using cracks and boot emulators for many games. Some of the later games were never fully cracked and don't work right with the Universal Boot Emulator.

Of course, these days you would only care about the novelty since we have Everdrive64, 64Drive, and others, so those specifics are less important.
  • Very valid, I dont see anyone buying these devices because of practicality. As you have stated, there are better and less expensive alternatives out there.

Nonetheless, I own this bad boy now so it will be part of my display with the rest of the collection
  • It's a really cool piece, for sure.   I kept my N64 on top of the Doctor V64 for years since it got a lot of "what the heck is that?!" responses! You can fit loads of N64 games on a single CD-R and it loads pretty fast so there's some useful practicality left if you don't have a flash cart. I know that the PSUs were problematic so if you have any problems look there first!
