Why so melodramatic?  I read through the thread and it looks like people had a good, favorable discussion about the gamecube.  I was going to chime in, but I really don't have a whole lot to add.  I don't have any super rare display pieces or games that haven't already been posted.  I had a gamecube in high school and actually thought it had the best graphics at the time.  I recently bought a couple broken gamecubes over here in Japan and fixed them, so now I have two gamecubes....

Until I posted, there hadn't been any new posts since April. Another month went by, and still nothing. If I didn't post anything and bring this topic back to the first page, I'm sure no one would've bothered. And it still looks like no one is really interested in talking about the GameCube. So yeah, I guess it's time to just let this topic die.
  • GameCube is actually the only system that's doing anything right now value-wise. NES and SNES have gone ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. The reason this thread isn't as busy is that this more of a cartridge site, cartridges have stagnated and there isn't nearly as much traffic here due to the aforementioned lethargy in the cartridge space. I'm pretty sure the GameCube discussion (and much of 6th gen) is mostly on Reddit.

But rarity and value aren't the only things to talk about. We could be talking about recent purchases, items you've found in closets/drawers, new discoveries, favorite games, beating a game with your own made up goals (think of how many goals/challenges people have made up in Pac-Man, Super Mario Bros., and Legend of Zelda over the years), glitches, imports, speedruns, and just about anything else. That's one of the reasons why I made this topic, to talk about anything to do with the GameCube. That, and there are rarely topics about it here or in the Gamer's Gauntlet area.
  • Lots of crying in this thread.

Says the guy who has made some posts in previous pages of this topic with complete utter nonsense.

If no one has any interest in posting in this topic (even if the reason is because it was made by me), that's fine by me. Let it die.
  • Quit crying about everything. Aren't you an adult? You sure as hell don't act like it.

I said If no one's interested in posting here, that is fine. That's not whining. If you're an adult, you should know that.

Саn you let me know what Loxx said that was nonsense? As far as I could tell all he said was that he played gamecube for a little bit but prefered PS2 and that is a very hard system to beat.

People do have interest in gamecube, but people here mostly like snes/nes. There have been tons of awesome stuff posted in here, but when you post things in here like "i quit" or i guess nobody is interested in this system what am i supposted to post?

Im gonna say ive always been interested in this thread   And there are a few others like darktone that are thankful for it aswell, but dont bump this thread every other month to moan about nobody is posting here. If people wanna talk about gamecube they know where to post dude.

The ridiculous assumption that I'm "crying", and agreeing with others who have made similar comments. I said that IF no one is interested in posting here, then that is fine. That doesn't bother me at all. Nobody is forcing anyone to post here. I'm acting in a calm and mature manner.

I'm well-aware that most people here are more interested in the NES and SNES (so am I), but NES/SNES and, to a lesser extent, N64/Wii/Wii U/Switch topics are usually all the Nintendo fans post, so I decided to post this GameCube topic since there are so few of them and I thought people might like to talk about a different Nintendo system for once.

If Loxx likes PS2 more, great. I don't criticize other people's opinions.

Mini games were fun as well, minus the batting one.

The GC also had the entire resident evil collection on the system as well, with the exclusive (at the time) RE remake.
  • I don't see how people not posting in a GameCube topic means that we all hate it. NES and SNES are the main focuses on this site, and always has been, especially NES. I think it's great that some people are passionate about the GameCube, I was at one point. I decided not to focus on it anymore to persue other collections, and thus haven't bought anything recently, and really have nothing to add to this topic. By the way I don't see many people talking about the N64, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, DS, 3DS, Virtual Boy, Wii or Wii U very much either. I don't know why it's so offensive to not talk about the GameCube. I really enjoy the system, personally, I have always been and will always be a Nintendo guy first. I've owned every Nintendo console except Virtual Boy. GameCube is one of my favorite consoles. I simply don't have a lot to say about it that I already haven't said.
  • So I'm sure I'll be repeating myself here but GameCube... I think it's a great system. I love the mini discs, I love the form factor - might be my favorite looking system aesthetically - I love the controllers, I love the selection of games. I own about 50 games which, for me, means I own almost every game on the system that I plan on buying. There are a few more expensive titles I still want like Fire Emblem and Skies of Arcadia but I pretty much have everything I want. For most systems I decided I only want games I actually really want or will play. SNES and N64 are the exceptions to the rule since I will buy almost anything for them within reason. My 50 games for Cube is better than my 25 for Wii and 21 for Wii U. I don't have a lot of interest in those systems.

GameCube came out the year I graduated high school and the same year I got my first car and I was also working my first job at the time, so in contrast to N64 and prior consoles, I could now go out to the store and buy my own games whenever I wanted and had the money for. I spent a lot of money on GameCube games. A lot. I owned well over 100 titles during its lifespan, not even as a collector, just bought a lot of games for it. It had a lot of great ones. Even with PS2's bigger and more diverse library I still prefer the GameCube over any other 6th gen console. My friends and I played the shit out of Smash Bros Melee, Mario Kart Double Dash and the Mario Party titles. As a solo player some of my favorite games of all time are on the GameCube - Resident Evil 4, Legend of Zelda Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin 1 & 2, Paper Mario Thousand Year Door. This system had it all.

But like I said, I haven't said anything about it I haven't said before and I can really add a lot of discussion to this thread. When I first came to NA, my focus was GameCube primarily. The games were more affordable than others, and I had sold much of my collection previously so I was rebuilding it as well as discovering new titles I never played. I made several topics on the system including what kinds of collector's items for the Cube were available. I fell in love with the system all over again, but even then not many people talked about the system. It's a weird sort of middle child of the Nintendo systems - too new to be retro but too old to be modern. Maybe this will change one day, but I doubt it will ever be as popular as NES/SNES/N64. But there are still GameCube collectors out there and many people still appreciate this great system, myself included.

Didn't say everyone hates it just because there haven't been any (or very many) posts. Just that there seemed to be a lack of interest in posting in this topic and that IF no one wanted to post here anymore, I have no problem with that.

As I've said already, I'm already well-aware that the NES and SNES are the most talked about consoles. I don't have a problem with that either, but that doesn't mean I can't post topics about other consoles.
  • Of course, anything Nintendo related can be posted on here. Hell, even topics about non-Nintendo consoles can be posted here. By all means talk about GameCube, I'm sure you are not the only one who would actively collect and talk about the system. In reading this thread though it comes across as people not posting = a direct attack on you which is not the case. A lot of people here just don't talk about the system. I'd love it if more people talked about the N64 but I'm perfectly fine that they don't.
  • I'm curious how many of you bought into the HDMI mod (external or internal) to keep it at its best going forward for years to come? I'd like to know what people think. I have my own ideas on it since I have one, but would like to see other ideas.
  • To me GCN is still a tube TV system. Component into a good one such as a Trinitron or PVM, yes, but still a tuber. Of course the few HDMI CRTs are in play too.
  • Does anyone own the Eon GCHD? Curious on thoughts if so
  • I just got the Eon GCHD this week, but haven't given it a try yet. Wanted to finish Okami HD before I started any gamecube games.
  • I just use a Wii with component. The GB player sucked anyway
  • i've hooked up four GameCube's and Game Boy Player's before, with both Link Cables and GBA Wireless Adapters, and had a blast playing Mario Bros. in the Super Mario Advance games as well as Mario Tennis with my friends.

Someday, I'll play Faceball 2000 with sixteen Game Boy Player's and Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green with 39 Game Boy Player's and Wireless Adapters.
  • Is There any easy way to clean off the yellowing of a GameCube consol?
  • The eongc is just the already existing tech the zeldaxpro device uses and you get the honor of paying an added $50 because the printed shell is prettier. You can check any review on the upgrade and know. It's like you choose to buy a Honda or upgrade to an Acura. Same basic thing and made by same maker for what counts but paying more for the luxury look.

Not if you use GBI. It has become the best way to play GB/GBC/GBA games for me. GBA Sp 101 being next in line.

You can even use a SNES controller adapter so you can play everything with a SNES controller.

Where did you order from?  They aren’t easily available in Canada.

I’ve tried that, still never thought it looked that crisp.  Maybe my expectations are too high

I ordered it from CastleMania Games.

I played a few games to try out the GCHD, Mario Sunshine and Mario Kart. Both games have progressive modes. The one thing I noticed added detail in areas, there are reflections of clouds on Rainbow Road and water surfaces.

  • Looks great. Thanks for letting me know where you got it from. I'll check out the website
